This is a contest I have specific and picky notions for. My brother passed away very unexpectedly on July 4th. Leaving behind 5 beautiful children. Shari age 16, Lil' Craig 9, Chyla 5, Connar 4, and Erika 1. I am hoping to print and make these poems into a book for them. Id like the poems to be about their father, or making them sound like its from their father. I want poems that children would want to hear, and not get bored easily with. Which pretty much is saying please try to rhyme. It holds a child's attention better.
Of course I will credit each poet with their name in the child's book. And believe me, even if they aren't a trophy winner, if appropriate most will be in the book too.
Let me tell you about my brother a bit, so you can get a small idea.
His life= his children, he lived, breathed, and worked everyday for his children. He helped whoever whenever he could. He always made us smile, he was a big clown. He once chewed up a worm so he could help my sister feed a baby bird. He was a weird one lol. He was very loved.
Now about the Kids:
Shari~ The teen lol, She is Just like her dad, She acts like him, jokes like him, but looks like me lol. Her mind thinks like his did and she is a wonderful bright girl.
Lil Craig~ loves his video games. His dad spent a lot of time fishing and playing his games with him. He is smart and was Dads little boy
Chyla~ Piggy was her nickname and she was his little girl. She has been our little angel. She misses her Dad and I think its hit her the hardest in losing him.
Connar~ Bubba is his nickname he chose it all by his-self. He loved to be with his dad and do anything, fishing watching a movie just all in all playing.
Erika~ She is our newest addition. She doesn't know her Dad all that well, she is so young, but she looks just like her Dad but with bright red hair! She is playful, willful and stubborn just like her Daddy! *grin*
**As is, by entering you are giving me permission to print and save theses pieces, with your names on each. Just a little reminder

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 20, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Sheesh, this is by far the BEST contest I have ever had in my time on this site. IT was impossible for me to choose winners this time. I was completely stuck for a long time. Most of you will be printed and acknowledged in the book I make for the children. I will specifically write to each in the book and let you know. Wonderful job you guys. This has been a very tear filled contest, and I want each of you to know, you have had a part in helping me somewhat deal with the utter heartbreak I feel right now. Thank you, I can not express enough the gratitude I have for you all. Just know your all in my heart now. God Bless!!!
Always
Emily

This seems like a good contest and I'm sure your brother appreciates that what you're doing. I can't write something like what would be appropriate, but I wish you luck.
