Beyond this life most people expect things will only get better and look forward to going to a place where they will rest from the cares of this world. Most seem to refer to this place as "Heaven".
You do not believe in a place called heaven? That should not hinder you from penning a poetic description of what it may or should look like.
A place more than a feeling or perhaps feelings associated with a place.
Holy writings refer to dwellings (mansions, homes...) I am wondering what does it look like and what is there? If I am vague it is because I want YOUR ideas not mine given back to me in verse.
Easy? Difficult? Writers and artists have loosed their imaginations to give us glimpses Will I have to wait or can you give me a 'sneak peek'?
I have learned a lot on here from poets of different beliefs and cultures and I am respectful. Quote sources or links in your author's notes if you wish BUT, I want you to be the person speaking, describing as if you are looking at a physical location you wish to tell someone elseabout.
MY RULES - Be clean
Be sincere ( a pub on every block sounds more an
indulgence than a description! )

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 2, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Oh my, what a time to be judging this contest. A toothache for the past week and here I am contemplating visions of "a rest from the cares of this world".
A lot of thoughtful descriptive entries. I appreciate the thought and effort put into a new write. I am especially appreciative of those who shared experiences very close to them There were some great entries which didn't make it in before the cutoff and some of my favourites which made it but did not get recognition.
Please know I tried to recognize your efforts in my comments and as I revisited many times to reread. More than anything else that was common to most writes was the people to be found there. While I am not planning on going anytime soon I hope to see many of you there and we will share a chuckle over our preceptions and perhaps find some vindication for our visions.
A sincere thank you to each of you. Jadon

Hi Jadon, If you decide to allow pre-writes I have one that I'd like to enter. Thanks!
-
I only hope that those that read, read with an open heart and mind.

Wow, what a lovely concept for a contest! Well, if after this you still wonder try reading Destiny of Souls, by Dr. Micheal Newton. That is the best description of heaven to me, or a.ka. the spirit world, or whatever you want to call it. Good luck with the contest, hope you get plenty great entries.

Thank you!
Appreciate your stopping by and especially that you recommended a resource. There are a couple of experiences shared so far which have given me insight, but trust me I am a reader and I will look into Dr. Newton's book. I am thinking though that even then I will still wonder as such is my nature, Just new questions. Thanks for stopping by though and sharing your comment. A really nice thing you did. Jadon

Eye has not seen, ear has not hear, and imagination has not concieved what God has prepared for those that love Him. Beautiful contest idea. I will do my best, and still be so far from the reality of it's beauty.

Sounds like a scripture to me or words of a hymn. Very appropriate and especially suited to one of the entries that I read. Thank you for thinking to share this. An inspirational thought and also a guide to those who write. Appreciate your thoughtfulness. Jadon
