Contest Pay it forward - the real thing by Dienush

I have been meaning to make this contest for a while, but with my other contests I didn't have enough points. Fortunately I've just won some points so I can do this. Also, thanks a lot to Deviantly so for donating points that helped me award more points to the winners.

Lately I've become a little annoyed at the pay it forward contests on here. The poetry may be great, I'm not trying to offend anyone, but that wasn't the original point of these contests. So just thought I should try to bring back what I think the original idea behind them was.

Pay it forward was really a movie, perhaps book - not sure about that, and a foundation. You should check this link for more insight http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/

but even if you don't, I'm going to tell you

The boy in this movie got this idea for a practical assignment for class. The assignment was something along the lines of making the world a better place. And this boy came up with a project. He would help three people with something they needed, on one condition: these people would help three other people instead of returning the favor, and so on. That would increase exponentially and soon enough lots of people were going to be happier.

Now, getting back to this contest. What I'd like of you is to write a poem for someone else. Like a dedication. You can enter as many times as you wish, as the more people you can make happy, the better. If you could also include in your author's notes what your poem is about, whom it's for, etc, that'd be greatly appreciated but it isn't really a rule as long as you keep your poem real.

Since the goal is to make others happy or help them with stuff they're going through, I will have to ask that you not write anything dark, depressing, or hardcore erotic (though sensual is fine, some people may actually need that).

I would like it if those who win could use the points to host their own pay it forward contest following this concept and its original meaning, to spread the happiness. However, this is only if you would like to do so and really not a rule.

I will judge on both how much emotion the poems convey, creativity, and how likely they are to help someone or make them smile.

Also not a rule but will help both you and me if you do it - please state in your author's notes if you'd like a comment on the subject matter, a critical review of the style, or both.

Thank you and hope everyone has a good time with this contest.

    Thank you!

I'm glad to see this contest. Thanks for keeping the real purpose of pay it forward alive!

I confess I also strayed from the original concept in some of my contests... so thank you for reminding me of the actual idea of it...

    Good luck with your contest!

I love this idea for a contest good luck with the entries.

A few years ago my daughter went on retreat with her confirmation class. "Working in the Vinyard"

A young seminarian and his helpers were in charge of a bunch of teens and at night they would sit around a campfire, sing songs and tell spooky stories. Mike, the seminarian let my daughter play his guitar and showed her a few things. Musically inclined anyway, she was a natural and told him that she loved it and would be saving her money so she can buy one of her own.

A week later, we came home from a day of shopping to find a huge box on the porch addressed to her. It was a guitar with a note inside to pay it forward. A while after that, Mike the seminarian and a bunch of the kids came to the house for a cookout. We showed him the guitar and the note. He just smiled but never let on that He was the one who sent it even though we knew it was.

I almost forgot about that. You're contest reminded me of it. Thank you.

    Desiree

Super! It's so nice to see the fruit of someone's labor come forward with a worthy testimonial.

What can I say? Blessed is blessed. Even the story of this is a deed that God loves rewarding.

      Thank you.

Not at all. It can be anyone who could possibly read it, whoever you want to write for.

Undoubtedly a wonderful way to convey how the 'good deed' world works. Especially with words that begin with 'w'. Sheesh.....Okay.anyhow, the criteria is honest, the rules obtainable, and release the 'reaping sowing' principle in a substantially important role.

    It should be interesting!
