"I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep."...
- Neruda.
the shorter the better...
but a long poem that holds
my attention is fine...
...thank you and please be inspired by
the lines above.
I want beautiful imagery of
your emptiness...
lol...if possible.
A hint*
Do not tell me what emptiness is,
show me what it is

This contest theme is not
about train stations...lol...
it is about what your own emptiness
is without someone/something/losing yourself, etc.
I hope that helps

Pablo Neruda happens to be the only famous poet i've read. I like his style. I have a lot of emptiness. This SHOULD be easy.
-
-
lol...I have only started studying his work...I went from Thomas Moore to Neruda...lol... you need to read also...The Light Of Other Days (Thomas Moore)...a great poem
I am excited for an entry from you! -
-
Not feeling much like writing these days but the contest should be up for a while...
-
-
...I feel like one
Who treads alone
Some banquet-hall deserted,
Whose lights are fled,
Whose garlands dead,
And all but he departed!...
(from the light of other days - Thomas Moore)
I will keep it up for a while...
I only want one excellent example
easy...lol.

Nicolette,
thank you
...and I would love an entry from you for this contest

Very nice contest idea. Neruda is my favorite all time poet and that's one of my favorite pieces of his poetry you have up there. Let me see what I can do.

I'm still struggling with a poem for this contest... you know one of those where you know what you want to say yet the words keep dancing all over the page
!
-
I wish you would allow prewrites I just wrote one better then what I enter.
-
-
you may change the poem any way you like that you entered...you are more than welcome to paste your new poem in and take out the old one...or change the one you have...I let people edit up until the contest closes/until I judge.
Let me know and I will read it again...I read all the poems again...even ones not in the finalists before judging

This is gorgeous! I may try to squeeze into this contest!

you're welcome

The top three all deserve gold...I hate when I have 3 close poems in the top...well...it is good to get that quality of poetry entered...but makes it very difficult to judge!

Wow! What a contest, what an honor and what a line up of work! This is some of the best poetry I have read here at AP in ages! Thank you so much for hosting this contest and being so generous with your ideas! Congratulations to all the writers in this contest both those who collected cups and those who where in the running!
