Will be reviewing and commenting on all entries on 18 July 2007 to crown the 1st Reigning Goddess of Rain!
I found this picture in a contest and it was already filled completely with entries. That didn't stop me from writing how I felt. It was too inspirational. I want you to look at the picture again right now and then again once I instruct you where to look. If you can only look at the clouds and block everything else out for a moment, you will begin to see it becomes a mirror. You think I have lost my mind, but BARE with me. Trace up between the floating feather and the Rain Goddess. Look at the lightness surrounded by the dark clouds. You can actually see her reflection with a bit of imagination. The couple of small dark clouds in such a place that makes her eyes, nose and shadow of her chin while an outline of a face is present. The other dark clouds resembles her dark hair. I'm sure you can see it like I do. I wrote a poem about her as it's titled the "Goddess of Rain" (and I'm not providing a link due to the fact that I don't want you to think you have to read or comment on it).
There are a few of you that have followed my work and know how much a lady influenced me to write about the rain for I saw it in a new light. Yes, of course I'm talking about the marvelous, spectacular, creative, beautiful and talented Rain Girl. This special lady will always be a man's fantasy as it will be one man's reality some day. I was fortunate enough that she gave me inspiration and filled my heart full of romance. She made me tingly all over with just the thought of her. God knows she was amazing as I also was blessed to learn that on my own. She will continue to be a Rain Girl in my eyes even though she was meant to be with someone else.
I guess by now what in the world does this have to do with the contest. I would love to see if any lady out there can present themselves as the Rain Goddess in the picture shown and give guys a chance to fall in love with you. As for myself, I'm not looking to fall in love, but will place the one that moves me most on my page as the New Rain Goddess. No need to worry about being hounded by me or any courtship, just the title is what you win as I decided to make this an annual event. You will wear the crown from July 2007 through June 2008 as there will be another contest seeking the next Goddess of Rain.
In addition to the crown, the winner and two runner ups(Silver and Bronze) will be entitled for me to co-host a contest with them on any subject they choose, or be given 300 points to host their own contest without my involvement or me to write a poem for them in any way they prefer (I doubt very much that this option will be taken, but the offer is given-lol). I'm hoping that the prizes won't discourage anyone as it may not be considered a prize for me to co-host or write for someone. The great thing about winning is that you can decline all the prizes with one exception; being posted on my page as the Reigning Goddess of Rain for a year.
With all of that said, I hope there are at least three ladies that would like to participate. I don't look for a big turn out for this contest, but I guess I would have egg on my face if no one wants to reign as a Goddess of Rain on my page. This will be open two weeks or less. I do reserve the right to close it earlier than the date shown.
Of course this is one of those wacky contests that I have from time to time. You could say this contest draws from my very first wives contest which has a history of its' own. There are not too many requirements for this contest with two exceptions;
1. you must have been a member of AP before 1 April 2007 (if after this date you will have to wait for the next one as the same rule will apply for 2008).
2. you must have over one hundred comments (which is not much to ask for someone to have been here for almost ninety days.
The two requirements must be met and has been set for I feel that you are somewhat reigning in the AP community and should be a credible representative. I plan to keep this anonymous as to demonstrate no favoritism. All contestants must be on the honor system when it comes to the requirements, but I'm sure many will watch the entries and will leave a comment on your work if you were not eligible. I would want to keep this anonymous every year if possible. We will see after this first one if that's possible.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 19, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes:
This is to remind the winners gold through bronze of the additional things. My final comments are below it!

I may have not been totally clear in the contest as to what this would be. It was to run similar to a beauty pageant, but it was a rain pageant instead to find a reigning goddess. It is expected that the winners keep their entries in the contest at least during the reigning year or forfeit the title(s). That means if the reigning goddess has taken hers out, then the runner up will step in as the new queen and that goes down to the HMs as well.
The two poems that stuck out as in the right direction for the contest was Reigning Queen and Rain Goddess. True this was picture inspired, but it was also to tie in as a reigning Goddess of Rain. The judging was somewhat made easy for this contest because there were four prewrites which left the other six (even though one of them has been placed in another contest) in the order they are presented.
Next year, everyone who entered this time may enter again unless you are the Reigning Goddess of Rain. This will be an annual event and you can only reign once as the goddess. I do want to thank everyone who did particpate in this contest and if I made you confused then please forgive me. For those with expected prize fulfillments, please get with me on how you would like to do that.
Thank all of you for taking part in this contest.

PS: Yes he image is breathtaking and is why I had to write a poem with the same title. I saw it in another contest that was already over. As a matter of fact, I have to go thank that person for leaving such a remarkable comment on it as she said it was to bad I didn't make her contest for it would have given the other entries a run for the money

That’s quite a lovely picture. It could awaken any muse. I was attracted to this contest for two reasons: 1.) I love rainstorms and 2.) My previous AP username was Goddess of Rain. I will bookmark this and hopeful be able to write a poem worthy of your time. Best of luck with your contest.
