i'm sure all of you have heard about the holocaust that killed over 6 million jews, if you havent... welcome to out of the rock.
I know none of us can ever imagine the horror, the terror, the hurt, the sadness, or the loss of anyone who ever died or survived the holocaust. However in my contest I want you to imagine being in a concentration camp.
I have recently written one of these myself, and I feel I havent even hit a centimeter of the pain those people felt.
On a happier note the Holocaust Museum is going to allow Anne Frank's diary to be seen by the public. If you do not know who Anne Frank is then go back under your rock.
Rules:
-No erotica
-No Hitler resemblence
-you can write anyway you want
-You dont just have to write about in a concentration camp, you can write about being in hiding, just as long as it is in a Jewish point of view.
-have fun.
You are all winners. And Im sorry that I cannot give everyone a trophy or points.
How many of you knew that the Nazi symbol was first a buddhist peace symbol?

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 28, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: "It's really a wonder that
I haven't dropped all my ideals,
because they seem so absurd
and impossible to carry out.
Yet I keep them, because
in spite of everything I
still believe
that people are
really good at heart."
I'd like to thank all of the people who were in this contest, it was really hard for me to choose finalists and I thank you all for being patient.
As we all know the Holocaust was a horrible time for anyone really, this includes jews, homosexuals, gypsies, etc. But I do believe that all of you captured the horridness of that dark time in history.
Thank you all for entering the contest. I wish you all the best in life.

What?
So it can't be about any of the OTHER MILLIONS that were in the Holocaust!? Or can it? As long as it's not from a Nazi's veiwpoint, and what if it's from somebody that was forced to be a Nazi. Maybe to conceal their homosexuality or being a Jew. (Yes it happened.) Is that okay? Or do you only want to hear a Jew's veiwpoint that was actaully suffering IN the CAMP? -
I agree with candymiser
I think it should be from the numerous others as well. When people hear the word Holocaust, they think, "Oh, the Jews". But it was more than that. It was homosexuals, blacks, Pols, and many many more. What about them ?
I will still come back and write one for this, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
did you know that the german word for Nazi is 49 letters long?
and yes, i knew that. -
-
For your information, the German word for "Nazi" is 4 letters long, not 49. It's "Nazi"; Nazi is a German word. It is short for "Nationalsozialist" (17 letters).

It can be about any person!!! They dont have to be suffering in a camp, they just have to be jewish during ww2!!!!, or they have to be affected by the holocaust.
-
-
thank you for recognizing the numerous others that were present during thsi time, as well as in teh camps themselves.

Yeah, I knew that about the symbol. I was actually inverted to become the Nazi symbol.
This is a great contest, but I am a little bothers that we can't write from any other standpoint. What about homosexuals, Jehovah's witnesses, gypsies, Easy Company? Perhaos you could consider letting us wriet about them. Great contest idea, though. -
Strictly speaking, you are not quite correct. The Buddhist swastika has its arms pointing anti-clockwise - the Nazi ones had them going clockwise.
Incidentally, in India, there is a deserted city - I forget the name - it is on the tourist-bus route between Delhi and the Taj Mahal. It was built I think about 300- 400 years ago, but abandoned soon afterwards due to lack of water...
But what is ironic is that one of the buildings (a temple, I think) is decorated with a frieze of alternating "auspicious" symbols - the (anti-clockwise) swastika alternating with the six-pointed star that in the 19th century was adopted by the Jews as their specific symbol!
-
umm, fyi, I'm going according to what My GERMAN TEACHER told me. excuse me. And the word "Nazi" is short for that.
anyone ever notice that "Nazi" resembles "Nasty"? -
all of you who have left comments such as why only jews or why only Anne Frank
first off I realize the error I made in one rule it's just im too lazy to go back and change it.
second off I never said just Anne Frank I said that on a happier note.
I apologize for any inconvienence it may have caused some of you it was a dumbass error on my end.
