I want this to be a fun contest.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE RULES
Here are the rules:
1) Use a poem or song that you like and write your own poem which either COMPLIMENTS it or CONTRASTS it (in other words-- write a poem which either opposes or echoes the sentiments of the poem or song that you choose).
2) If the poem or lyrics for the song can be found online put the link for it in your author's notes.
OR you can put the poem or lyrics at the bottom of your poem. (please be sure to send a link for the written lyrics and not audio or a video)
3) Make sure to include the title of the poem/ song and the name of the writer/ artist(singer, band etc.)
4) The poem you write must be NO LONGER than 25 lines please. (I already have to read double everything in this contest)
5) I don't expect you to limit the length of the song you use but if you use a poem please make sure it is relatively short-- about 35-40 lines maybe.
6) Prewrites are only allowed IF you have written a poem which was inspired by another poem or song. However, the other rules still apply and that poem/ song will have to be included in your entry.
7) Absolutely no erotica. I will disqualify you if you write erotica.
8) Don't reply to any comments I make on your entry because this is an anonymous contest and if you reply I will automatically know who you are.
Sometimes the entries come in quickly when prewrites are allowed. If that happens I will allow more entries.
Pay attention to the rules and have fun.

Hi Gentle...Just responding to you here since I know you want to keep the contest anonymous as possible. If you're using the AP-count as to poem-lines, that's gonna be off since it counts the title and line-break spaces, etc. as lines. I don't know if this may also be the case for others, but in my instance the poem is only 21 lines, but AP shows more than 30 as the total-count...??? Beats me.
Enjoy the contest!
