Dribble a Drabble V

Since I have points, I decided to host a contest. This is not easy and there are strict rules to follow. While I will not DQ anyone (such a petty act) for not following the rules, neither will they receive consideration. Those that do manage to get it right will receive an applaud for entering.

The premise: Write a 100 word story. That is it. Easy, huh?

The rules:

Must be exactly 100 words.
Must be complete.
Grammar and spelling count far more than you know.
This is prose; do not write in form, or lines.
You may write about anything you like, but no bashing anyone.
I will give a critique, if asked in the author's notes. Otherwise, a thank you will be issued.
Place your name after the piece, not in the author's notes. This is important as I do not have a gold membership. (And yes, I know that I can ask the moderators to make it visible, but why should I need to?)

If there are any questions, you can PM me, or check out the other Drabble contests. You can look up the definition of a drabble on the 'net. But, I am only using the 100 word version, so that is what I want.

Thank you.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 14, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 800, Silver: 75, Bronze: 50
  • Final notes:
Thank you all for entering. For some, this was the first attempt at this kind of writing. Now that you got your feet wet, perhaps you will try more of these.

The top three were the most cohesive of the entries. They also followed the requirement to put their name on their entry.

I hope this was fun and a learning experience. I enjoyed reading the stories.

Seeing this contest, I have to note-- Joel Brouwer put out an incredible book of prose poems called Centuries in which every poem is exactly 100 words. :-)

I think I have heard of that, either through a friend, or online. I am not sure I would be up to that challenge.
