Pillow Talk ( For members who've not won a contest)

*Until the author's ID link is converted, please IM me your author's page link so that I can verify
that you've not won a contest yet. The site has some glitches to work out. Thank you.*
Pillow Talk

What will you take to your pillow? Is there something that you wake up with that lands on your night sleep at the end of the day -a goal, concern, worry, loss or torment?
Is it yours or someone else’s conscience that should be pricked in a way which you could translate for them? The president, a country ambassador, leader of community, an employer or homeless person?

Criteria:
Express the above idea/theme in this contest through your own words.
Take it from the slant of anticipation, yet answered prayer or anything that explains the focus of it.
You can even write ‘about’ the process of that creativity objectively if you don’t want to share about yourself or specific subject. It’s not hard, but something that needs thought. Design it as ‘if’ you have something held within. Imagine and stair-step it.

Focus here in several ways:
A- Elevate the reader by reflection, and suggested solution.
B- Give us a philosophical approach that is fresh, simple, yet intuitive. I love ambiguity long as there are viable layers. Tell how this subject will end with the last thought of the day before you sleep.
I realize this leaves a vast amount of possibilities, so go with it. Surprise us without
warning.

Example I:

Faded Lamp

Did I really let you go, Daddy ?
in every waking moment I see your face
watch you in all the places,
near the elevator , the closet
My lips are clinched and my hand waves;<-- The pain has affected the writer
do you wave back?

Is heaven everything I thought and more
as this painful life has placed a tag on my pillow
faded scripts of how to take care of
the fluff of things below your place;
inside and out, however do I manage?

Air’s dry, and I choke while asking tonight.
I could cherish this as there’s no
light above my bed and I can’t
read the scratching on the wall;
It wants you back in the padded chair <-Suggestion
holding our children, a glass of water
uneven shadows begging for answers
that might redeem the lost place before.<-----Potential solution-- recalling for closure

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on June 3, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 150, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 2 people
  • Final notes:
I want to thank you for some rather haunting pieces overall.
However, it was brought to my attention that some of the entries were already awarded trophies long before the contest which sadly gave me no alternative but to disqualify them.

I'm glad to see those of you who took heed to the critiques and edited. Those of you who've won could still spit-shine and polish here and there. An inspirational egg is always parched at first, but nourishment brings it a solid GOLD!

Thank you for your time. Keep entering and posting the best~ Warmly, CookieZeal and Myrataal! :

Prewrites are fine, whether you've won or not, but only DURING the simultaneous post. You're still eligible according to what I see on the post date.
        Please enter!

    Keep it Up

O Dear! This seems a nice contest for someone like me who always yearns at the sight of trophies at other's author's page. But I am not that good to write a poem on the given topics. Still I would give it a try. If I can manage then I would participate. Wish you a good luck with the contest.

I'm sorry. I know how frustrating it is, but this contest is for those with NO trophies unless they were won simultaneously with the posting to this one.

I wish you the best otherwise! Thank you.

The poem "Hunger", the author has 12 trophies.
The poem "Heart of a Dreamer, the author has 1 trophy.
The poem "Something from Nothing", the author has 4 trophies.
The poem "That moment before you fall asleep", the author has 1 trophy.
The poem "I Love You, My Pillow", the author has 2 trophies.
The poem "Dear Dad", the author has 1 trophy.

The problem with doing Contests like this, is you have it in "anonymous", and also, people have aliases on here. All they'd have to do is log under an alias that has no trophies and enter accordingly.

Perhaps you should limit it to one or two trophies, or less than 5.

But zero trophies? This isn't 3+ years ago when trophies weren't abundant on most author pages, nor was the website at the membership level.
