Graffiti
I’ve been paying particular notice to the Graffiti that is appearing in and around the suburbs around my home and especially along the railway tracks. Most of it offends my eyes but every now and then a ‘masterpiece’ of philosophy and/or humour leaps off the side of the building bringing either a smile or a moment of reflection. Some of the ‘artwork’ is quite profound. This is what I’m asking of you.
With paint can in hand I would like to read in no more than 3 lines! yourexample of humour or philosophy.
Make me think, smile or both at the same time, there’s a challenge. The choice is yours, however, unlike some of the painted Graffiti there are to be no expletives in your efforts here.
I’ve supplied the blank wall now I want you to add something to it.
This is open for all age groups so please keep this in mind when posting your entry
No-prewites – I would like brand new stuff – your own work please nothing already seen on a ‘real’ wall somewhere.
One outright winner – gold 300 points
Silver and Bronze – both 100 points
Honourable mentions – 30 points each x6
Prime your paint can and get going!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 6, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 6 people
- Final notes: This contest has certainly made me look again and re-think my previous judgmental attitude toward some of the Graffiti I see at times.
Somewhere in there amongst the tags and the little power plays going on there really are gems of wisdom and some very funny quips being written by people who really just want to get their words out there for all to see.
I've been so impressed by the entries; I had to double my Honourable Mentions as I couldn't fit any more in.
Thank You all so much for making me smile, and for those of a serious nature, to think very deeply about my comment in return to you.
I've never held a contest about Graffiti before but I'm glad I did, thanks and regards to you all.

The old nutmeg that I love is :
Little boys should be seen and not heard.
Little girls should be obscene and not absurd.
