Hi everyone!
It's been ages since I've held a contest, but I'm back in the game now! My rules are pretty similar to the ones of my former contests and the subject assignment is quite simple. Just stick to both and you will be read and commented on and might just win yourself a nice trophy or even those 300 points! And if you do intend to skip the rules, at least read number 8.
RULES
1) don't break the rules, if you do you're disqualified
2) the winner takes it all: 300 points
3) the runners up get trophies but no points
4) no cussing, no foul language - it's simply not necessary in this contest
5) check your spelling, DoN't TyPe LyKe DiS
6) you may enter only once
7) prewrites are simply impossible
8) write "I will see the movie 'In Bruges' in 2008 when it's released" in your comment box below the poem... just do it and nobody gets hurt, hehe
9) I can tell you now I prefer poems that rhyme and have a nice rhythm to them, but I'll give all styles a fair chance
THE ASSIGNMENT
It's pretty simple; I give you some lines from my favourite lyrics, you pick the one you can relate to most, you write a poem and work those lines into it. Make it sound as if the lines belong in there. You can use more than one of the quotes, but one is enough.
THE LINES/QUOTES YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM
"I try hard just to please you when I say I don't need you." - Am I Getting Through by Sheryl Crow (you can leave the 'just' out if you want)
"But it's a fantasy, not a reality and it's no good for me." No Good For Me by The Corrs (you can play with this A LITTLE - cut some or switch around the words a bit, but not too much - it needs to feel like the same thing)
"You know I'm such a a fool for you." - Linger by The Cranberries
"She can't love you like I can." - She Can't Love You by Destiny's Child
"You'll remember me when the westwind moves." - Fields Of Gold by Sting
"Once you said you loved me - was that a lie?" Once You Said You Loved Me by Frances Black (you can play with this, a little, if you need to, too... just stay true to the feeling and use all of the words in this line)
"Lie to me - I promise I'll believe." Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow (I'd like you to stick to the feel of the song if you use this one... so don't make it a completely different subject)

Just make sure to follow rule eight... and while you're at it: go see the movie In Bruges when it's released in 2008 ;-)!

I'm working on it - my parents announced their divorce, my boyfriend dumped me and my grandmother died so here's my explanation. I hope that eases the pain of having to have waited. Sorry if I'm being cruel I'm not in the best mood. I promise I'm usually nicer.
