This contest is kind of an experiment... I want you to take a work of Shakespeares, and write a modernized version of it. Any poetry form is acceptable, though I really prefer free verse.
You can use any sonnet, soliloquy, or plot line from a work of Shakespeare's. For example, rework Helena's favorite speech from A Midsummer Night's Dream, or modernize Sonnet #8, or write a poem directly based upon a scene from Hamlet... whatever!
Rules:
- I'm not asking for a vague reference, the content should be directly linked to the work.
- Swearing and erotica okay if necessary for plot or character reasons.
- No chat talk, and please check your spelling!
- Please make sure to let me know which work you are using... Either in your description, or comment on the contest with your poem title and the specific work. **Brownie points if you provide a hyperlink to that work!
300 Points to the Winner!
Unofficial Honorable Mentions will be awarded if I feel the need to.
