Different people approach poetry in different ways and have different views on its utility and practical purpose (if any).
I would like to hear what YOU think is the point of poetry for YOU.

WHAT I WILL BE LOOKING FOR
1. Something I can understand.
2. Good use of language. No text-talk, emoticons or other short
cuts.
3. Good spelling (UK or US English as long as its consistent)
4. References to poetry from other poets not just your own
work. This is intended to promote the companion site

site will be especially welcome ! !
WHAT CAN YOU WIN
The winner will recieve 600 points and the traditional trophy.
Second Place will recieve 300 points and a traditional trophy.
Third Place will recieve 100 points and a traditional trophy.
Other good effots will recieve bonus points and / or thunderous applause.
HOW LONG HAVE I GOT
Ideally the contest will end at the beginning of May but I may cut it short if I am swamped with entries or stretch it if there is a dearth of entries.
WHO CAN ENTER
There is no restriction on age / sex / creed or even members of the MOD team.
Only one entry per person unless you are a certified schizophrenic!

I would like to thank all of those who entered. There were many excellent poems.
A few entrants failed to address all criteria but still provided some interesting offerings.

I cannot congratulate the winning authors as they are as yet unknown and some poems shared the same title (including te winning title) so Well done everybody.

I've always maintained that the point of poetry is to woo women. It doesn't seem to me that much more need be said on the topic, but it's a good contest idea.
