As millions of people already know, the state of Virginia has experienced a tragedy of biblical porportions. Apparently, a lone gunman stalked the quiet campus around 7 this morning and shot down fifty people, before killing himself. Thirty-three of the victims are now dead.
My views on this sickening atrocity will be silent. I'm not in the business of publicizing this bastard. I am about glorifying and celebrating the victims' lives that were so cruelly taken. Who knows how many doctors, lawyers, peace corps workers, inner-city teachers and social activists met their ends way too soon? This is a tragedy, folks. Innocent students should never worry about meeting their end going to class!
This is my first contest. This may be my only contest. For poets who don't know, the civil rights activist, Nikki Giovanni, is an English professor at Virginia Tech. I am tearing up as I write this. I met the lovely woman two weeks ago at an author's visit. I limited the entries to nine. I am asking for people to dig deep into their beings. I am asking for raw emotion. I am asking for heart and soul.

Twisted, broken and bleeding too. / I ask you, why did you do it? / / Laugher echoed through the room, sinister and remorseless just like you. / Crimson seeping through your clothes, pooling in a morbid lake. /by Forbidden Romance 25 lines, 6 comments, on Apr 17 4:24 PM 2007. It is far too soon for me to try and write something for this, but I appreciate you hosting it. I earned my Master's degree from Virginia Tech many years ago. It was a good school with an excellent group of open hearted students. The recent events are a tragedy.

I am glad.
I am glad to be in this community where we can all share with the Virginia Tech community our feelings for the tragedy. I too have a contest and perhaps we can get the poems on MyFace site. -
I nominate all to be sent.
I nominate all to be sent to Virginia Tech and I know the host will.
