There IS Life After The Abuse {Contest}

UPDATE: PLEASE!!!! " I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR DETAIL ABOUT THE ABUSE. I WANT TO HEAR HOW YOU OVERCAME"

If you are not in the healing stage yet here is the link to a contest for you:
http://allpoetry.com/contest/show/2346294

I have started a group for survivors of domestic violence.

What I want here are poems from survivors stating why they are a survivor. My poem Battleship Steel is an example. {Not required to read.}

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/iamasurvivor/
this is the link to the support group i am starting online. feel free to click and check it out but remember i am just now getting it set up.

If any entries sound like they are focused on bashing the abuser, they will be disqualified without hesitation. If you are d/q'd for this reasong I will send you the link to the appropriate contest I am running. It is not an insult on your writing, it just needs to be in the right contest.

As this is about support in recovery it would be nice if you commented on the other entries. {Not required but would be nice}

I only want hopeful poems as this is about recovery.

Use spell check and punctuation please.

Play nice with others.

Keep it clean.

Men as well as women suffer abuse so this is open to both.

You may enter a prewrite if you are a survivor and have one that is fitting.

I will comment on every poem. Even if I receive 1000. That would be nice to know there are that many survivors on here.

As I have put a lot of points on this I want to see poetry/prose worthy of winning as you are worthy of writing such about yourself.

Thank you for entering. If you enter and wish to join the support group you may click here to do so.

REMEMBER: SMILE YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!

{please put your name in the author comment box as we have nothing to hide/be ashamed of--i will still judge fairly} if there is some reason you do not want to do this, im me and it will be ok. i just do not want us to hide as survivors.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 1, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100
  • Final notes:
    i would like to thank everyone who entered this. in the rules i stated:

    {please put your name in the author comment box as we have nothing to hide/be ashamed of--i will still judge fairly} if there is some reason you do not want to do this, im me and it will be ok. i just do not want us to hide as survivors.

    this is left out in so many writes. i hope you add it as you truly are worth the acknowledgment of being a survivor.

    i have begun to notice that these contests are hard to judge as i feel like i am saying one's pain is worse than anothers and this is not the case.

    thank you again for your entries and congratulations to everyone!

    smile: you are worth it!

    Good for you for holding this - many can share their experiences on this topic, I am sure, Very therapeutic for some too, as it is something many have not shared before. Proud of you for doing this my granddaughter..

    May I please enter a prewrite? Just yesterday I wrote a poem about my rape. I have just gotten passed feeling the guilt and shame of it. I really want others to read my poem and know how much therepy and other people really do help, and the bad feelings can be overcome.

    Ok...this contest is about how you survived the abuse and NOT about the abuse itself. Tell us how you overcame it. We want to feel stronger and better after reading... not like slitting our wrists
