It is something that is not done enough...a contest of epic proportions. So here it is. Play the game well, for the stakes are high and the prize is not easily won. And now, for the rules of play;

Option 1 - Wisdom
----------------------------
Write me a poem of at least 40 lines for one or more of these quotes. And do it well...I am only doing this category because I myself enjoy writing from the inspiration of a good quote, but it is the easiest of the options, and the most likely to be passed off to a lesser position in the contest unless done extremely well.

Is to see the face of God

A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds. ~Francis Bacon
I hope that my achievements in life shall be these - that I will have fought for what was right and fair, that I will have risked for that which mattered, and that I will have given help to those who were in need that I will have left the earth a better place for what I've done and who I've been.
~C. Hoppe

"Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other."
-Carl Jung
"Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men."
-Goethe
"We are not born all at once, but by bits. The body first, and the spirit later; and the birth and growth of the spirit, in those who are attentive to their own inner life, are slow and exceedingly painful. Our mothers are racked with the pains of our physical birth; we ourselves suffer the longer pains of our spiritual growth."
-Mary Antin
"A note of music gains significance from the silence on either side." -Ann Morrow

Option 2 - Quantity

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 20, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 2000, Silver: 800, Bronze: 600, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Wow, talk about an intense contest to judge. It took me quite awhile, simply because I wanted to be sure to read every entry at least 3 times, and since some of the entries were ridiculously long (good job to everyone who succeeded at writing such an epic piece! )it took some time.
It wasn't at all easy to pick the winners, and even harder to determine between who should get first, second, or third. But it's done.
Gold
Happy Birthday Mr. President
Silver

Bronze

-
I'm going to have to say no...though I did love the poem, it's only fair that everyone be kept to the no prewrites rule

Just to let you know Everlasting that I have updated my entry and it is now 150 lines... This should be alright, yes? Check out if you like, mine is Dystopic World if you don't already know! Thanks and best of luck with the judging!
