This is a collaboration contest with Freddypa
Canadian poet, Irving Layton was known for his "tell it like it is" style of poetry.
His work provided the bolt of lightening that was needed to split open the thin skin of conservatism and complacency in the poetry scene, allowing modern poetry to expose previously unseen richness and depth.
Today would have been Irving Layton's 95th birthday.
Your job isn't to write like Layton but write a poem in that "tell it like it is" style ...
No teen angst
No erotica please
Plain backgrounds
No pics
Spellcheck
Proofread for usage errors or wrong form of a word that spell check does not pick up on because it isn't spelled wrong, it's simply the wrong word. For example:
then/than, they're/there, their, etc.
You might want to check him out

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 16, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: I was hoping to get a lot of entries in this contest, however that wasn't the case. Not disappointed though. The 3 entries I got were excellent and I thank you for taking the time to write for this contest.

Good to see you hosting!
I have never in my life read an Irving Layton poem, well not that I can remember anyway. Tis probably part of the reason I am so incompetent. I shall seek to read at least 34809238409834 of them. Forthwith.
Hope you get some good poems. I'll be reading and watching as they roll in.

Hey thanks a bunchy for my shiny. I'll share my points with Lute who didn't get a chance to get his poem posted in time for this contest. Probably would have beat mine.
