**03/14/07 - UPDATE TO THE CONTEST: Something else that I neglected to mention. I only want to see one entery per person for this. This is very important. If I see more than one I will personally IM you so that you have the choice of which entry you would like to remove. Thank you for bearing with me and understanding. It has been some time since I hosted and I was bound to forget some things.
*03/11/07 - UPDATE TO THE CONTEST: I neglected to mention centering your entry to get the diamond effect that makes a rictameter sparkle as it should.
Hello everyone, I have not held a contest in quite some time and I have some points I would love to share with all of you. Form poetry is something that I enjoy both reading and writing. What I would like to see from you is a rictameter that is filled with beautiful imagery. It can be pretty much on any subject, I do not want to see any cutting, suicide or distasteful words. Cussing is clearly out and we are all adults so do not bash any of your fellow poets. There are many brilliant writers on this wonderful site and I hope to see some of them in this contest. For anyone that is not sure what a rictameter is you can find the instructions listed below or go to shadowpoetry.com and you will find them there. I wish to thank peliroja who will be collaborating with me in this contest and came up with the idea for the subject. Best to all who enter, I look forward to reading some wonderful pieces. As your host I reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the requirements or is offensive in any way.
Everyone enjoy and start writing. ![]()
Instructions for the form:
Rictameter
A rictameter is a poem containing 9 lines in which the first and last line must be the same. The syllable count by line is as follows; 2-4-6-8-10-8-6-4-2. They are a great way to express your feelings about someone or something.
Hosting this contest gave me the urge to write a Rictameter of my own. If you would care to look at one, feel free to do so and let me know what you think. I did enter it into a form poetry contest. http://allpoetry.com/poem/show/2723106

There were so many wonderful entries here that I did end up adding to the number of Honorable Mentions I was going to give out. They are not in the exact order I just made sure that they were within the range.

3rd place-bronze went to Tranquility by Pamela A Lamppa
Again the Honorable mentions are not listed in order of favorite. Thank you all who participated. All the entries were wonderful and I would have loved to be able to give you all trophies. Happy writing.
All our best sunny day and peliroja!
