Welcome to the March New
Members Contest for AllPoetry!
This contest is open ONLY to NEW MEMBERS of AllPoetry that joined in the month of March. If you joined February 28th, you are still eligible to enter as long as you DID NOT enter into the February New Members contest.
Contest Description:
March has been American Red Cross Month since the 1940s. Since its founding in 1881, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. And so to celebrate this, we'd like you to use Red Cross as the theme to your poem. You may either...
- Write a poem about the Red Cross and how they have helped millions people globally for the last 126 years.
- Write a poem about a crisis you have faced and how someone stepped in to help you.
OR...
For more information on the American Red Cross, visit their website at www.redcross.org/
Rules:
- No erotica or adult only type poems.
This contest is for all ages - so those who are under the age of 18 years and those who prefer to not view adult poetry need to be able to read the entries also.
- No foul language.
- No sTiCkY cApS or chat lingo
- One entry per person - If you collaborate, the other poet must be a new March member also.
- Entries must be 20 - 30 lines or less.
Very Important!!
Please make sure to check back from time to time after you submit your entry. There may be a notice of corrections or editing that may need to be done. It would be a shame if you are disqualified because you didn't do this.
Before submitting your poem, please ask yourself the following:
- Does this meet closely with the requirements of the contest?
- Did you go over the poem and check for any grammatical or typographical errors?
- If you were judging, would you be able to see how this would or would NOT win placement?
We wish you the best of luck to all of you in the contest and hope you enjoy your time here on the site. Welcome to AllPoetry!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 6, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: Thank you to everyone who took the time to write an entry for our contest. It was quite a pleasure to go through and judge this one as each poem brought a different side to the contest. Like many of the contests that we run, this contest was very difficult to choose the top choices to be our winners. But sadly we can only give out three prizes. And so here's the winners:
First Place - Beating Back the Storm by Dave Gordon
Second Place - hurt by liza5553
Third Place - The Hero Rolls Up His Sleeve by Freed by Mercy
Thanks again to everyone and although not everyone could be a winner here, there are many others contests that you are welcome to participate in here on AllPoetry.
Congratulations to the winners,
- The AllPoetry Greeter Team
