The Stars...

I thought long and hard about what I wanted my first contest to be about. I could not think of anything, when finally it popped in my head...THE STARS...my favorite.

It doesn't have to be directly about the stars!
It can be love, pain, hurt, depression, dark, erotica, anything. I would like it to be personal, and I do want stars to be mentioned somewhere in the poem, and have something to do with it. (I mean who wants to read a million poems just about stars!)

The Stars

I reach up,
to touch the stars…
far beyond my reach

Kind of like the way
I feel with you.

Laid my feelings out
before you
Could you see?

The dark night
I find myself in.
Reaching up to the stars,
bright, shiny you…

RULES
*I have no preference as to the style of the poem.

*I will allow cussing, only if it fits within the context, and there is not a lot of it in the poem! So keep it pretty clean please.

*I will allow self-injuring, depression, suicide, erotica, anything, just follow the quidelines please.

*I would like each poem to be somewhere between 15 and 30 lines. Nothing short, and nothing too long. (You will NOT be disqualified if it is shorter or longer, it is just a preference...and i will not consider the lenth in judging if it works well, if it is repetitive, then yes!)

*Only one entry per contestant please!

*NO bashing other poets!

AMAZE ME WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!

I will comment on all poems! I am on here quite often, unless I am at work.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!! and if you have any questions just message me and I will respond as soon as I possibly can! THANK YOU!

***I had some comments on allowing pre-written poems, so I edited the contest and you are now allowed to enter them, as long as they follow the guidelines!

  • Final notes:
I am very proud for my first contest. ALL of the entries were beautiful and I wish they could all have won the contest, but know that they are all winners to me.

As each entry came in I printed out a copy of the poem and had read it over and over again. This was a very hard contest to judge!

I would like to thank all of you for participating and making my first contest completely unforgettable. THANK YOU ALL!
