I am not sure if I believe a person can have more than one true “soul mate” or not.
For reasons too complicated to explain here, the man I’ve always believed to be my soul mate and I can’t seem to get it right, and he has started dating someone else. More than anything, I miss talking to, chatting, and emailing with someone who has always seemed to understand me from the inside out. It makes me sad to think he is the only one in the entire world capable of doing so. For that reason I am looking to see if...maybe...just maybe...another soul mate exists for me.
This contest is open to women as well as men, as I believe communicating on a deep and personal level is not gender based. Anyone willing to share his or her thoughts, dreams, ideas, and feelings not just for the contest but after, is welcome to enter.
I would like poems or short prose pieces to be about YOU, your thoughts, your philosophies on life, whatever. But, if for some reason you need or would like any information about me that‘s not on my author‘s page, my AP husband endeavor4u will answer questions. ( This is an anonymous contest, and I don’t want to be able to tell which entry is yours based on any questions you might ask. ) If he doesn’t know the answer, he will ask me and then get back to you. The contest will close after two weeks or when I feel I have a winner, whichever comes later.
For questions about me:

All other contest questions, please leave below.
RULES:
Standard rules apply, however: YOU MUST REMAIN ANONYMOUS. Please put a note in the author’s notes asking your readers not to use your name in their comments, AND please do not respond to ANY comments until after the contest has been judged. I do not like and have never had to DQ anyone in one of my contests, but if I am able to tell who you are in any way, this is a rule I WILL enforce this time.
One winner takes all. Good luck to everyone, and have fun!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 1, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: When I started this contest, I knew there probably wouldn’t be a massive number of entries. I also suspected ( okay, hoped. lol ) the entries I did get would be GOOD. That was my main reason for giving out only a Gold trophy ~ to pick out the top one is always hard enough, but to place 2nd and 3d is extremely difficult when every poem deserves a placing. None of you disappointed me. Every entry here is one I am proud to have had in my contest, and I thank you all for the outstanding work put into these poems. The thoughts, ideas, and feelings I’ve read through have given me new hope and insight into what a soul mate can and should be. I sincerely hope I have a chance to get to know those of you I don’t already know, so don’t be a stranger! IM me, send me a link to a poem of yours you’d like me to read, whatever. I don’t expect a soul mate or even a good friend can be picked out from the reading of a single poem, so my hope is really that this contest is a foundation from which to build on.
I’ve read every one of these entries a number of times, ultimately deciding to add 3 honorable mentions, which are listed in no particular order. Despite my “one winner takes all” idea, these poems, in addition to the gold winner, I simply could not let go without acknowledging them in some way. My gold trophy winner is a poem that dug deep into my heart every time I read it, and stuck in my mind the entire time the contest ran. The HM’s are all beautifully constructed, both technically and spiritually, (not to be confused with religiously) and these too stuck with me long after reading them. If you haven’t read these entries, I hope you do so, but to be honest there is not a poem here that doesn’t deserve to be read.
Thank you all so much!
s
~Julie

I disqualify myself
Because you already know who I am anyway. Could the man who has let you down be he who tells you he loves you yet hates you in the same breath?? I'm so sorry if this is the case, but applaud you for not withering on the vine inside. -
-
Yes...sadly, it is he. I can't and don't blame him though, as it is just as much my fault as his.
I'm not withering yet, but sometimes I wonder...therefore, the contest.
Oh, and thank you for disqualifying yourself, or no one else might have had a chance to win.
But seriously, you're a gem, Steve, and I appreciate you so much. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at the contest.

I know this feeling...listen upward into your heart and listen to its truth, for the truth shall set you free.

I'm sorry
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. This is a very fascinating contest. I don't think I could get myself to enter. I don't believe in "soul mates". They only exist in stories, movies and tvland. I believe in "meant to be", but soul mates is a creative spin to make one believe in love. I could go on, but I won't.
I hope that your contest will help you deal with your ordeal and hopefully heal.
Other than that. I think you need a big hug!

I don't think a soul mate absolutely has to also be a "love mate"...if I did, I don't think I'd be hosting this contest. lol But, I hope at the very least, you believe in love...
Thanks so much for the hugs, you're right that I needed them!
Best wishes,
~J.

best wishes in this sweetie. i believe in soul mates and i have mine all these years. i pray you will find yours for keeps. i also think you can have the same gender soul mate- a very good friend. i had one from scotland but sadly she passed away. when you get both together then you are truly blessed. never give up hope. never give up on love. God does answer prayer and i believe He still does miracles. i will keep you in my prayers. God bless you

Nice, and interesting contest...
I'd love so much to join! I just finished a poem... "I want"-83 lines just about me and my wants. About me, mainly. I just added it a few minutes ago, and it's bad we can't enter pre-writes. It would've been...me
Congratulations on your contest, trista, and good luck in finding a soul mate! -

It is always a good thing to try at best to uplift someone who is down hearted. I hope my poem did just that. Be of good spirits dear poet. This too will pass and there will flower another season, filled with love's blossoms.
Congratulations to all the winners and honorable mention.
Much love ♥
Renee
