February 8th.
Over a thousand things happened that are vastly more interesting than my birth.
Pick one.
It could be... an event:
1692 - A doctor in Salem Village, Massachusetts Bay Colony declares that three teenage girls are under domination of Satan, leading to the Salem witch trials.
1904 - Battle of Port Arthur: A surprise torpedo attack by the Japanese at Port Arthur, China starts the Russo-Japanese War.
1924 - Death penalty: The first state execution using gas in the United States takes place in Nevada.
1989 - An Independent Air Boeing 707 crashes into Santa Maria mountain in Azores Islands off the coast of Portugal, killing 144.
Or a birth:
412 - Proclus, Greek philosopher (d. 487)
1487 - Ulrich, Duke of Württemberg (d. 1550)
1720 - Emperor Sakuramachi of Japan (d. 1750)
1851 - Kate Chopin, American author (d. 1904)
1943 - Pirzada Qasim, Pakistani poet and VC of Karachi University
1988 - Me. (Kidding. Don't you dare.)
Or a death:
1204 - Alexius IV Angelus, deposed Eastern Roman Emperor (b. circa 1182)
1587 - Mary, Queen of Scots (b. 1542)
1907 - Hendrik Willem Bakhuis Roozeboom, Dutch chemist (b. 1854)
1932 - Vincent "Mad Dog" Coll, New York City gangster from County Donegal in Ireland.
1990 - Del Shannon, American entertainer (suicide) (b. 1934)
Whatever you desire, and it doesn't have to be these- pick your own. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feb_8 is a good place to start.
Celebrate February 8th with me.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 11, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 50, Bronze: 40
- Final notes: Well, it was a fun time folks. I had a great birthday/birthday weekend, and though I didn't get a lot of entries for this contest, what I did get was very good!
It was a tough race for first and second, especially! Spring Heeled-Jack told a great story in a great creative voice (as in written style, not the song. Though the song was amazing). Birth of a Nation took a creative a serious look at a film.
And Secret Chambers amused me to no end.
Thank you for participating in my little birthday extravaganza, and I would most definately invite you ALL to participate in any future contests I hold.

you know I love a dare. Happy nineteenth, darling.

Uh oh. With all these fabulous people, tragic demises, and earth-shattering events, picking me seems the... withdrawn choice. I mean, look at that spectrum! Oh, and thank you, love. XD

Bookmarking.
You like rhyme or freeform? -

Either. Both. Don't just keep it bookmarked too long though, it ends on the 9th. After we've had another Feb. 8th to bask in.

Happy Birthday! I will need to ponder for a little while and visit the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feb_8 site to see what else comes to mind. This should be a lot of fun.

Thank you for hosting this contest. It was very inspirational. Congratulations to the winners.

Congratulations to the winners, thanks for hosting, and I hope you had a great birthday. I feel a little embarrased as I didn't know you despised rhyming couplets until I read your comments on ea's
masterpiece, maybe mention that next time
