It's Frog and I with yet another contest...
I DO NOT believe in love but your job is to make me see the error of my belief... rest assured it will be HARD to impress Frog and I with this one...
I've always made it a point to not read love poetry because it ALL sounds the same... and for someone who doesn't believe that love still exists, it becomes quite boring so here's your chance to show that love poetry can be wonderful!
Your challenge...
DO NOT give us some mediocre crap like:
I love you, you love me
we're as happy as can be
you're eyes are blue
and now love I spew
darling I love you
and you love me!
IF you submit the normal every day love poem... be prepared to be DQ'd and have your poem removed!
Your poem MUST be unique, not the every day sappy love poem... remember I don't believe that love still exists today...
If you use the word bank, use the words correctly and list the words that you used in your author comment section.
This will end on my birthday, Valentine's day... but will be judged that weekend.
Word bank:
incredulity, skepticism, rejection, infatuation, obsession, benevolent,
assassin, ecstasy, nirvana, glacial, enamored, emblazoned, lucid, delectable, libido
NO EROTICA
NO CUSSING
NOTHING RELIGIOUS (meaning your poem may not be ABOUT God's love, I already know THAT type of love)
NOTHING WARPED
NO MORE THAN 30 LINES
NO LESS THAN 10 LINES
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 14, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: There is one poem that was a little longer than the contest called for but, rules are best broken sometimes... if you read the poem, you'd see why I chose it, and I'll not argue the fact with anyone to decided to get picky... the poem is worthy of a win.
ALL the entries were spectacular... if we could give you all a trophy, WE WOULD!
One thing happened while reading the entries... I decided that I MIGHT try to soften up a bit and at least examine love... possibly even may open myself up to it...
You've all made love something to be desired and made it sound wonderful.
The Gold, to Kirbysman... read the poem, he's speaking from 47 years of experience... how can I argue that?!?
Thank you each for a wonderful contest... it was hard to judge between so many wonderful entries...
Frog and I thank you..

Well I certainly hope my dearest seester that someone out there has a quill with enough talent to make a believer out of you!
I like the example of the mediocre poem... it made me laugh and then I wanted to hurl.... lol!
Does anyone truly write like that? Let's hope not! Anyway! For your birthday, my wish for you is that this contest will fill up with wonderful worthy pieces that will touch your heart at its very core! Thanks for including me!

Bummer... someone actually does write like that! lol...

Sounds like a very neat contest. I'm thinking about it. With number of lines, subject, method, and word list constraints, and for me, a rhyming constraint, not sure I can pull anything off but will keep thinking.

roses are red, but violets aren't blue... maybe there is love

I don't believe in love either, so if you find a poem that actually makes you believe in it, please send me the link... i've written "love" poems before but i didn't entirely believe myself, so i don't think it'd be right for me to enter this contest... i hope you do find what you are looking for though, and if you find a poem that makes you believe, seriously, send it this way...
take care

Hi Melissa
Your words in this contest, repete what you have said consistantly to me over time. Love does exisit, but only in the care of a good partner.
I will try hard to make time to give you words, Rick -
Congratulations to all winders. This was a wonderful contest. I hope you both have a little more hope. Hugs, Patricia

Hey guys, thanks so very much for the gold! This was a neat contest that really struck me because I'm a great believer in love and there was just no way I wasn't going to write and encourage.
Congrats to all the other winners as well. And love and
's to everyone.
Paul
