Ok people,
This is actually a story contest, but I don't have any points on story write so here goes.
Task
Write me either a short sci-fi or fantasy story, or the first chapter of a sci-fi or fantasy story. Make it as gripping as possible. If it's a first chapter, make me want to read on.
The rules of doom...
1. no sticky caps.
2. I don't really want a pawn story, or anything an innocent lickle fourteen year old wouldn't want to read!
3. These stories must be no more than 2000 words. I myself hate word limmits, but I don't want masses.
Final Notes
Please don't restrict yourselves to the genres fantasy and sci-fi, you can add other genres too.
I haven't allowed you to enter prewrites, simply because I didn't think you'd have anything suitable, as it's a poetry site. Also, from my experience, prewritten poems take ages to enter!
There are no points for second and third place, so there is no second and third place! I thought people would rise to the challenge if I was awarding 700 points instead of the standard 300. If I think your stories are good enough, I will put links to them on my author page and generally plug them! If I have enough points left by the time I've judged this contest, I will send them to you separately.
Please don't feel pressured by this contest! You are all great writers, and pressure is a horrible force to have on an imaginative mind!
I will comment all your stories on the day of judgment...
Have fun and good luck!
Meggh Malignant
p.s. If anyone is still writing a story they are thinking of submitting, or they would like a bit longer, please let me know. I have only six entries, so I am willing to extend the deadline. Send me an IM if you want the deadline extended.
Have fun!
