A Sound of Thunder

Embracing the title as a title, I give you option one:

One. What is the significance of cause and effect?

You may wish to reflect on:
.Decisions
.Alternatives
.Parallel universes
*Consequenses
.The short story "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury
.Your own experiences
.Anything, really

This is a sophisticated contest; I'm not seeking dainty rhyming couplets. This is free verse - I want it beautiful, tragic, deep, mysterious, or whatever you feel is necessary to engage me in your poem.

I don't care if it took you five minutes or five hours to write; just make it seem like you've spent five years perfecting it.

Any use of rhetorical devices is encouraged.
Be astounding.

On a more literal interpretation of the title, I give you option two.

Two. What do you hear?

You may with to reflect on:
.Memories
.Important experiences
.Places, people, etc.
.Your current whereabouts
.Your aspirations for the future
.Personal moments

This is a sophisticated contest; I'm not seeking dainty rhyming couplets. This is free verse - I want it beautiful, tragic, deep, mysterious, or whatever you feel is necessary to engage me in your poem.

I don't care if it took you five minutes or five hours to write; just make it seem like you've spent five years perfecting it.

Any use of rhetorical devices is encouraged. Subtle yet mindblowing sensory detail is especially encouraged for this option.
Be astounding.

Embracing the image as further inspiration, I give you option three.

Three. Explain the picture without explaining.

You may wish to reflect on:
.Color
.Lighting
.Posture/Pose
.Expression
.Tone, etc.

This is a sophisticated contest; I'm not seeking dainty rhyming couplets. This is free verse - I want it beautiful, tragic, deep, mysterious, or whatever you feel is necessary to engage me in your poem. However, I'm not saying that you can't rhyme within your poem.

I don't care if it took you five minutes or five hours to write; just make it seem like you've spent five years perfecting it.

Any use of rhetorical devices is encouraged. Subtle yet mindblowing sensory detail is especially encouraged for this option.
Be astounding.

Congratulations to everyone for a great contest!

Special congrats to the fairy tale-like poem "A Sound of Thunder" for gold, the down-to-earth poem "Whore" for silver, and the sensual, luxurious poem "A Sound of Thunder Dancing in the Darkness" for bronze. I'd also like to recognize "A Sound of Thunder", which was written about the image I posted, and "As Thunder Nears" for their excellent poetry as well.

Thank you all for your entries!
