Shades of Night (CONTEST)

"From the uncertain fringes of twilight, to midnight's dark secrets, every facet of imagination is reflected in the shades of night."

Think carefully about the theme of this contest and the quote above, then write me a poem inspired by a combination of the two. Sounds simple, right? Now let's see what you can do!

RULES:
1. No internet chat speak. Grammar and spelling count.
2. Please be sure to post your poem in the correct category.
3. If you use profanity, make certain it enhances your work and doesn't cheapen it.
4. Be creative and have some fun!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on February 5, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
I have to say, each one of you have made this very difficult to decide where to place those entries I placed within the finalist list, which was difficult enough to do. There were several pieces I like for various reasons and appeals. I was quite impressed and pleased by the inspiration each one of you have displayed in your work. I do hope you will all take a few moments and glance at one another’s work. Thank you all for the great reads!

Well, thank you, Ma'am. I think I like this 'anonymous' idea...it's nice to know I can impress you without you knowing who I am!

Thank you so much for the Silver placement. You had many entries and I know it would have been difficult with the judging because of the quality of the work entered. Thank you for hosting this particular contest, it gave us all the opportunity to dig deep to find the inspiration to write for it.
Congratulations to EVERYONE who entered, Well done Gold and Bronze.
