Ah... The Ballad

Ah...The Ballad and AH! Where to start!

Well Alright then, here will do. Attention People! This is my very first contest (Having just earned 300 points I am determined to dispense of them) and I have chosen to hold it in honor of something i love: The Traditional Ballad

This means it must have both Rhythm and Rhyme, so if that is not your thing you'll likely be spending your time better somewhere else. It must also tell a story, fictional or true is of little importance, so long as it is in good form and well written.

Lastly, and here it is, the longer the better! That's right, I LIKE long poems.

Now, for the rules...
1) no sticky caps
2) no internet lingo
3) no cursing
4) look up "Ballad" on the internet would you! I am looking for something very specific.
5) Have Fun

I want everyone to do their thing here, so i'm not going to restrict any genre of poetry, but as for erotica or topics involing cutting and what, keep it classy eh?

Topics: i would prefer epic Ballads (Telling a really interesting story of battles or wars or something: Think Lord Of The Rings, elvish stuff)and am more partial to either fantasy or historical subject matter, but if you have something that you'd really rather write about (I mean can't get out of your head, really rather write about: Go for it.)

Now, lastly, I'd like to add that, as this is my first contest, I really don't want to be overwhelmed, so i'm restricting the contest to thirty entries, and as a result, will delete anything that i do not consider to be of the right criteria, so again, if you arn't up for the challenge, don't enter!

There, That should do it, I hope. (fingers are crossed) and if there is anything that I have left out or screwed up, feel free to scold me harshly

On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

UPDATE: Well obviously when i decided to limit my contestants entry to one, I was setting my sights a little high, so i'm removing that limitation. I'd still ask that you keep it down to two or three, however, Thanks!

as you are allowing pre-written poems I will enter one i wrote a while ago which is not posted on this site, I can't claim it as a new poem as it was done some time ago but it is very very long, perhaps a bit modern for your tastes but it does say on any subject, hopefully you will find something in it

mmm just seen that almost every poem is a prewrite, can one enter more than once? I will have to write one specifically for the contest too
