My first contest so fingers crossed and hope nothing goes too wrong. I haven't written too many but I do have these points which I'm not sure what to do with, so here we are.
THE CONTEST:
I want to know what's the hardest thing that you have ever faced, witnessed, had to go through, or had to do in your life. Simple as that. It can be about anything. The main theme behind your write should be sad and/or dark. And in your work must include these words in the same line: the hardest thing.
HOW TO WIN:
Not a necessity but if you can write something 'worldly' or something that involves natural disasters or anything that can make me feel what I'm going through is trivial and insignificant, you will have a higher chance of winning. Though I am not telling what my problem is.
THE RULES:
(added here because it seems people are not reading it right: you have to include the words 'the hardest thing' somewhere in your work as mentioned in THE CONTEST section! Entries before 11.01.07. are given the chance to edit their work but not those after. If you want to play the game you have to follow the rules.)
1) No sticky caps. I honestly don't know how to read them.
2) Profanity only if it fits.
3) Please check spelling. I want to know that, as a poet, you know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'.
4) Please, as a poet, use proper English: 'would have' and NOT 'would of'.
5) Less cliched rhyming is always good. (No boyband lyrics)
6) If it's suicidal then it has to be really good to win.
7) Feel free to read a few of my work to see what sort of direction I usually go for. But all forms are accepted and I will try my best to be fair.
THE PRIZES:
1st - 350 points
2nd - 150 points
3rd - 50 points
Honourable mentions: 2
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
None will be disqualified but I will let you know what's wrong, if any. I will try to comment on all entries. A total of 50 is allowed. And I do hope you can take my honest comments. Feel free to message me should you have any queries. Prewrites are welcomed only if they abide the rules.
Good luck and thank you for reading and entering.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 29, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 150, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Gold: Diary Of An Eight Grader
Silver: My Perfect One
Bronze: where there is life
Honourable mentions: Vital In Life, Where is the silver lining?
My first contest has come to an end. I have to admit, I was disappointed at first, one being how few people actually read the contest rules.
There were a couple of pieces that were really good but I couldn't shortlist them as they did not have the words 'The hardest thing', which was the main point for the contest.
But for those who did, I thank you for making my job easier.
And for those awarded, well done! you really deserve the trophies. I'm not going to lie, for me, it was really easy picking the top three.
I would also recommend everyone (if you don't have time to go through every one here) to have a read at the Gold winner's piece, it's breath-taking and I truly enjoyed it.
And to all others, I thank you for taking the time and effort to participate in my contest. Really appreciate it. Thank you all for making it possible. Till next time.

trust me, there are always lots of peopel who enter coetsts taht completly ignore rules like 'add this' or 'put choice numbers in your authors comment box'. It is very annoying, but it happens to all of us. I have given up trying to get people to follow those types of rules, because most never do.
