Calling ........ Haiku, Haiku, Haiku

Well I have just the discovered the wonderful art of traditional Haiku, quite enjoying writing this style myself.

Now it's YOUR turn, I want you to give me your best traditional for Haiku, we all know what a Haiku is, don't we?

Well if 'we' don't, this may not be the contest for you.

I want your best jam - packed full of emotion or humour Haiku.

It can be about anything, no real limits on that.

Now the rules... you knew they were coming!!

1. No swearing - this is an ancient form of poetry, I'm sure they didn't swear

2. PUHLEASE No StIcKy CaPs or you will be DQ immediatly

3. No bashing each other or poetry... I shouldn't need to even say that

4. If you put your name in the body of the poem, or on it in any fashion (not including comments, I will refrain from reading anything but the poem itself) You will be DQ immediatly. I want this to be a blind contest, for fairness. Also please do not answer comments made on you poem.

5. Please stick to the traditional 5-7-5 format to make sure you aren't DQ'd

6. And finally Have fun!!!!!

UPDATE, there seems to be some confusion on what sort of Haiku I am looking for, I really enjoy the 5-7-5 Haiku of Japanese origin, containing no more or no less than 17 syllables, please make sure yours adheres to this rule, or I will have to DQ more of you, as I've already had a few!

The 5-7-5 rule was invented by American teachers to explain the form to schoolchildren - the actual Japanese 5-7-5 wasn't syllables but a type of symbol, so the Western interpretation doesn't actually need to follow 5-7-5 - it just needs to use less than 17 syllables total, usually spread over three lines.

I'm after 5-7-5, not simply 17 syllables... tis a contest after all

    awe 5-7-5 format?
I don't like those traditional haiku since most of them are stumped with filler words that blur the images the words should bring...

I will think about it though, but not sure I will make it - I prefer the contemporary ones

    Anywho, good luck with this

    welcome

to the club of Haiku fans - it is a challenging and captivating world. I hope with time you will flex the 5-7-5 syllb rule and come to appreciate any haiku as long as it does not surpass 17 syllb.

I could IM you the entire haiku list of rules, if you wish - let me know.

    good luck with your contest.

For the umpteenth time, I know the Haiku rules, this is a contest, I am running the contest, and I asked for 5-7-5 style just cause I wanted that style. Man, I don't see other people complaining on other contests, when someone requests poetry in a particular form, that is exactly why it is called a CONTEST, When I want Haiku of all style I will run that contest.... I do not need the rules, thank you very much....

Don't know why I bother running these things and spending my points when everyone keeps complaining
