Alright here we go with my (*&@^)th contest on AP.
For any of you who have read Beowulf or Canterbury Tales, you should be familiar with the term Epic Poem. Now I don't expect you to write something as long as these guys did, obviously not. What I want is a poem in that style. If you're not familiar with this style I'll give you an overview.
1. MUST RHYME! Epic poems are often in Heroic couplets but can be done in other forms of rhyme if you wish.
2. MUST TELL A STORY! Simple as that, your poem must tell a narrative through verse. Doesn't matter what the story is.
3. MUST HAVE A HERO! Your hero can be a knight in shining armor, a vampire defending his coven, or a starving artist trying to deal with a pesky I.R.S. agent. Whatever you want. Hero's are usually imbued with a tragic flaw that leads to their eventual downfall. If you don't want to write a tragedy though, that is not necessary.
There are other guidelines for Epic Poems but I'm not going to include them because I don't want to restrict you too much. And now for the rules.
1. Abide by the criteria of an Epic Poem listed above.
2. No StIcKy CaPs unless you tell me why they are necessary.
3. No IM language. Use real words and spell them correctly please.
4. Cussing should be to a minimum but will be allowed if necessary.
5. Any erotica involved in your piece should be kept to a low key as I'm not looking for porn here. I don't want to restrict you entirely, but keep it PG-13 at least if you would.
That's it. I set you loose upon the page to weave your poetic master pieces. Good luck and have fun.
(P.S. prizes will most likely be increased when I get more points)
_________!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!____________
I am visiting family for a while and have ended up staying longer than expected. My apologies to all who have entered for my lack of viewing and commenting on your pieces. I assure you I will get to it in time. I will be returning home on the 7th. Then I will begin to more thoroughly peruse the entries. The deadline also has been extended for similar reasons.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 14, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 550
- Final notes: Okay, I know you all have probably forgotten about little old me by now and expected this contest never to be over, but alas all good things must come to an end.

Thank you all for entering and for your patience. I assure you any contest I hold in the future will not be so lagging in the judging department.
With all that said, I COULD say that I'd love to give you all trophies but it would be a lie. I'm a realist at heart so those of you that won you were the best, congrats, those of you that didn't, try harder next time.
Winners:
GOLD - "Castle of Tears"
SILVER - "The Tragedy of Venus and Adonis"

Awsome
Finally a contest for things I do. I would have entered "Plamen Oren" my 150 page Epic but after a recent re-read I realized it was full of cheap rhymes and convoluted language. That's why I sumbitted part one of my newest epic. Even if I don't place, I hope you enjoy what I have so far
