*TITLES* Contest

Ladies and Gentlemen I am amiss I neglected to mention an honorable mention:

Amethyst Butterfly and her poem:

Our World Reprise [titles from different poems in one]  as HONORABLE MENTION.

My apologies!  Please check it out!  allpoetry.com/Poem/2261393

PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATES EVERY NOW AND THEN!

10/16/06:  I have read 75 poems since last night at this time.  I have 26 more to go.  Please forgive me if I stop now and wait until the 'morrow.  I promise to complete this task by mid day tomorrow. These poems are leaving me breathless.  I never thought that your poem titles would blow me away like this.  This is totally unbelievable. I am floored. I will bid you all goodnight and return in the AM to be bowled over even more, I am sure.  Thank you EVERYONE for your participation and patience.

Love You ALL

Renee

10/16/06

UPDATE - PLEASE NOTE...IT IS GOING TO TAKE ME SOME TIME TO JUDGE THIS CHALLENGE.  THERE ARE 91 ENTRIES AND THEY ARE ALL EXCEPTIONAL!  HOPEFULLY I WILL HAVE COMPLETED THIS HEFTY TASK BY MONDAY EVENING OR TUESDAY AT NOON.  THE LATER SEEMS MORE ATTAINABLE.  LOL  THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE

UPDATE - 10/01/06

You may use more than one title in a line.

The poem definitely has to make sense.

DO NOT ALTER TITLES.  THEY MUST BE EXACT.  (except changing upper case letters to lower case letters to make the poem more pleasing to the eye.  This is an option, not a requirement.)

DO NOT ADD "filler words"  ONLY USE TITLES

Yes, it can be Concrete or Abstract, even Beat and Dada

You may edit your poetry until the challenge closes.

I will read each poem as they are entered here but withhold commenting until the judging process.

I will go to your page and click "view all" during the judging to make sure the titles that created your work are actually there.

You may enter - NO MORE THAN 2 POEMS

Please use only YOUR POETRY POSTED AT AP to create the poem

I hope this covers all the bases.  You guys are astute little buggers.  You asked every question possible.  I hope I answered them all. Whew!

This is what I want...TITLES ONLY!

Go to your work
Gather at least 12 TITLES (lines)
Create a poem

Here's my example:

I was thinking
Just now,
Don't know why;
I am here my child.
Hold me please,
Little one lost.
Time stilled,
September Eleventh Remembered.
I wrestle...
Unwoven.
Looking back;
Now what?
Can we talk
Accountability?
Bear no malice.
God and Nature
Watching
The state of things.
Basic instinct;
Grim reality-
By design.
This is real life, okay!

Any Form
Any Subject
No more than 32 lines

Sorry, if you don't have at least 12 poems you cannot enter.

The best of luck to you all and THANK YOU for your time.

1st Place - GOLD - 500 points
2nd Place - SILVER - 250 points
3rd Place - BRONZE - 150 Points
4 Honorable Mentions - 25 points each

I will comment on all poems during the judging process

ENJOY!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on October 17, 2006
  • Rewards: Gold: 500
  • Final notes:
Oh My Goodness Gracious! I am ripped! This contest was the hardest I have had to judge thus far. These entries were extraordinary! I cannot believe the caliber of poetry that came from compiling titles. I would like to thank EVERYONE for the turn up and show out because EVERYONE surely is a winner in my book. I do wish I was able to give more than one set here. Unfortunately I cannot. That makes me sad and reminds me why I don't host more contests than I do.

Every single poem was awesome. I am still amazed at the brilliant titles on so many pages. I do plan to take my time and read so many poems that have titles that touched me. With all that said and so much more that could be said I present to you...

    The Winners:

An Agony to think on? by Lyndon - GOLD

Blue Beautiful Midnight by Psydeways Tears - SILVER

C'est la Vie by Miss Splenda - BRONZE

    HONORABLE MENTIONS:

    Moon's Elegant Finger by wishintreeUK
    Untitled by David G Arnold
    Above The Clouds by liquidmindforever
    Ecstasy Perfumed Imagination by Inddividuality

I know, I know, I said four Honorable Mentions but I would be amiss if I did not add to these mentions:

~~ Love and Light ~~ by Desire
~A Reflection of... by -Ink Artist-
    Absorbed Manipulation by Intangli2ring
    ~Contentment! by Samplette
    Roads and Paths by MargaretG
    Autism by Pollycheck
    Lord of Life by ShelleyA
    Silent Remembering by Scott Adlemann*

Again! THANK YOU EVERYONE! All entrants made this a wonderful experience for me.

Wait, so you mean we'd have to use our own titles of poems on Allpoetry? I think that's what you mean but I'm a little confused. sounds interesting anyway, though, so good luck

You're not confused at all. That's exactly what I mean. Use your titles from poems written here at AP. It'll be easy for me to check because they will be listed under "view all". LOL Hope to see your entry soon.

Last year I had over 1,300 poems posted here. Took them down and began again. LOL Some people only have four or five. You must have 12 poems (at least) to enter because the requirements state that the poem (created by "titles") from your collection must be at least 12 lines long. Hope that clarifies things for ya, and you submit an entry.

I have to say that at first I thought this would be fun (which it was), but I didn't think that without using extra words that there would be that many good poems, but I was WRONG! I am amazed at how many great poems people are coming up with just using their poem titles! Great idea you came up with! Kimberly G.

    Kimberly,

I never thought I would get so many entries in just one day. Whoa! And from what I've read, I am going to have a serious task in trying to judge. I have seen some brilliant works here. No two poems are alike! Even when a poet submits two entries. I am totally impressed. I have another contest in mind and will surely hold it when this one is done. Thanks for your participation.
