I am seeking poems that describe any "natural place" that you have visited in Florida. Your poem must describe the feelings that you had while you were there and why you consider that place to be one on the most enjoyable experiences that you have had . For those of you that have never been to Florida in person, I will accept poetry that describes a place in Florida that you would like to experience and have knowledge of because you have researched it on the Internet or someone that you know shared their experience with you and told you it was the "best"!
Your poems can either be free verse or rhyme as I have no preference.
Only (1) poem per person can be entered and I promise to judge them fairly.
If you have not checked the "critical comments box" then I may not comment as it is important for me to be able to give you my fair evaluation if you enter this contest!
No pre written poems will be accepted.
Submit poems in proper form as most of these contests require.
The prizes will be: 500 points and a Gold trophy for first place
300 points and a Silver trophy for second place
100 points and a Bronze trophy for third place
I am looking forward to your entries and hope that you enjoy this challenge. I am hoping that your entries might not only enlighten me through your experience but also others who read your works.
Have fun ... joy

UPDATE ... My first contest is looking like a walk through nature with just the three of us ...
(looking good for some easy points and no competition!)

UPDATE ... October 1, 2006 I will now begin reviewing your entries and making my comments and awarding the trophies and points. It looks like everyone will be a WINNER! Thanks so much for entering my first contest!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 1, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 1000
- Final notes: I was pleased to see the EXCELLENT entry by Storm Goddess and there's no doubt in my mind that she knows the "real Florida" and is busy, not only enjoying it and sharing it through her photographs but has poured her heart and soul into experiencing what a lot of tourists seem to miss! I congratulate her on a first place entry.
I was disappointed that I didn't get more entries, since Florida has so many beautiful areas, off the beaten path!
Since I only had three entries, everyone won a trophy and points.
JustADutchie placed second and Tali28 came in third!

I live on Florida's Nature Coast. It is the most beautiful place to be. This is a fantastic contest idea.

I lived in Florida for a year and a half and loved it. Maybe I'll think of a poem...for it will be a pleasure to relive my memories.

I've lived there for 9 months in Orlando, nice place! All the best on your contest.

Thank you for the honor, most appreciated. It is definitely a beautiful part of Florida that most just seem to forget. When people hear Florida, the first thing to come to mind is so often Disney, followed by Daytona for it's various reasons. But me? I like the things out of the way and not so norm.
