For weeks I have had overwhelming sadness which is tunneling into
the BIG D very fast.
So to distract myself I am holding a contest for the subject. Anguish.
Please write a poem for me telling me why I should keep fighting
slipping into nothingness and giving up.
Please not "I have it rough too..." - "I know how you feel..."
Give me valid reasons for continuing on. I feel my poetry is
no good and has no worth, I have deep and dark coils in my heart.
Tell me what there is to live for.
25 lines or less
any style
I do not like cursing and vulgar language. No erotica.
First place: 300 points
Second Place: 200 points
Third Place: 100 points
There will be an HM or two as well.
Now, I have no patience at all, so this contest will close in the morning.
NO PREWRITES I have asked for fresh work.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 22, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Thank each of you who entered. I was touched deeply by your poetry. What kind and caring people you are. We know there is no cure for depression that is clinical. You are born with a predesposing genetic pattern and that is out of your control.
I liked the poems that said Pull yourself up - I agree that is what you should try to do.
Please be aware that clinical depression is totally the body chemistry you were born with, and while you can fight to negate its effects, it is just there. Please have patience and compassion for those who suffer with depression. No one likes being in that state.
Gold goes to Tawk - who made me weep and some of it was joy.
Silver goes to Poetryintheblood, whose entry shook me with its depth and compassion.
Bronze goes to Frozentearz who spoke with her great accepting wisdom and acceptance.
Before I list the HM's I want to honor one poem, Toni Christman's poem was beautiful and it should go out to all who feel the grip of this loathsome disease. "Hill and Valley" is just wonderful and is receiving WolfHeart's Special Recognition Award.
HM:
Serena Pippolotta
Head Witch
Intaglio2ring
all other entrants will receive 25 points for their fine work.
God bless each of you who entered. With your support I will be myself again soon.

i just wanted to say that this contest gave me some fresh ideas rolled into a sort of advice column. i'm really glad that i got to participate in this contest. Good luck to everyone who entered and I hope you found some good advice in your readings. Remember you are loved. If you don't think so then ask your self 'who would miss me the most'. if you give up lives will be destroyed not just yours but the many people who love and support you too. if you need to talk to someone then do so we are all there for you whenever you need us. Birghten up your days and forget about it. Love can scatter sunshine even in the darkest of places.

I think I shall write a 'lil poem for you.

Auntie Wolfie, I won't be able to participate in your contest as I'm so strapped for time right now, but rest assured that you are a magnificent poetess who's words of wisdom comfort me daily. I appreciate all that you have to offer to me and everyone here at AP. You offer so much encouragement to budding poets and your ability to write on any subject has given me courage to try the same. I would be lost without you!! You have been an inspiration to me to continue to write and find my niche in this cruel world. The struggles that you've conquered give me the strength to fight my own inner demons and strive to be the best I can be. You are my Auntie, a part of my family. I will always be here for you, for anything you need. I Love You!!
Your Niece~
