Contest 19 and still strong.  What's so popular about my contests? Originality for some, imaginative options or purposes for others, and sheer challenge almost all of the time.

So look below for the regular list of what's contained in this contest.  Mind you, you MUST read well.  Every sentence counts and I don't always repeat myself. And I don't always repeat myself.

The organization of this contest isn't anywhere close to being different than most of the others I've hosted, so if you're a regular (and I certainly hope you'll become one if you aren't) then you all ready know how this works...down to the last period and letter.

See below for the 'Table of Contents,' so to speak.

Sensations-- What you have to write about/or whatever.  Basically directions.
Requirements -- What you should do.
Rules -- What you must do.
Points -- What you could get.
Later Additions -- What changes I've made as the date progresses.

♠ ♠ ♠ Introduction ♠ ♠ ♠
Okay, okay, I know what you're all thinking.  How can this contest possibly be so huge? So in depth? So impossible to read in one sitting?  The truth of the matter?  It isn't.  You just aren't reading what you're seeing.  How is that possible?  Because this is the part where I tell all of you that are actually reading this contest for real what to do.  You ready?  Write poems or stories and head down to that section below titled 'Sensations.' It has a little flower [ ] next to it so you can't really miss it...unless you really aren't reading this, then it'd be too easy.

Anyway, as the filler this time around, I figured I'd go into depth on the way all the rest of you not-so hopeful contestants really irritate me.  I'm sure you know who you are.  The ones that leave those sort of semi-spam comments below just to get points, never enter, never actually do anything more than click the link, leave a note (if that) and leave thinking this contests is actually worse than what it really is.

What's even worse is the fact that I do this only to get rid of you.  Why would I want to do that...hm...I don't know.  Perhaps such questions are best answered in my all time favorite statement when pertaining to such things: you aren't wanted here, so go away.  In fact, if you really are still here, I'm surprised.  You shouldn't be.  By now, you must have all ready posted those annoying comments below--or even IMs, for that matter--and been off on your merry way with those extra seven or whatever points.

I call it foul play, but you may think it's all fair game, right?  Well, I'll have you know I inform the moderators (from here on out) of such things.  Especially you commentators that comment the same thing twice or, for that matter, something that has nothing to do with this contest and seems to be only for the point of making pointless words a comment worth points.  Don't do it to me or you'll be in trouble.  I don't deal very well with people who irritate me any more.

Now then, on to the next section!

Sensations
What you have to write and so forth.  Each number is required in order to enter.  This is a test of your following orders/directions skills.  Remember...reading is important.  I can't stress that enough. Use these like directions to a recipe you've never made.  Don't skip even one of them.

0. Keep note of what you get for each answer.  You will have to do something with these later.  (I tell you about it in the rules)

1. Who? Character.  Pick a character, new, old or what have you.  Must be your own or borrowed from someone that is willing to let you work with this character.  You may make the character anything, animate or otherwise.  Singular or Plural, this character is you in your write, so feel free to explore.

2. What? What happened?  The lights went out in Georgia?  Caught your wife with another man? Find out what happened to create the write you'll be making.

3. When? Is it summer yet?  Day? Night? Some time that isn't really time?  Figure it out.

4. Where? Pick a scene.  You can choose whatever you want, but it has to be accurate through out your work.  No altering.  You can't have a tree that was in one spot suddenly shift to the side without reason, remember.

5. Why? Why did this happen? Don't just tell me about this particular whatever...explain.  I am a very curious sort and I'll have questions if you miss this one completely...well, I'll have questions anyway, but that's besides the point.

6. How? How did this come to be?

7. Mixture.  Take all you have up there, random as it might be and put it together.  Put it together in a way you wouldn't have done it before if you can.

8. Write.  Enter you write.

-- Suggestions --
You do not have to do these.  If you complain about having to do these, you're obviously not reading this contest well enough and I'll remove your works if you complain more than once...provided your complaint the first time didn't offend me too much.

1. You do not have to do this. Read another contestant(s)'s work. You do not have to do this. The more the better. You do not have to do this. Remember to comment on what you've read.  You do not have to do this.

2. You do not have to do this. Read something of mine. You do not have to do this. All comments on any and all of my works are greatly appreciated and can improve the likelihood that I'll not only judge this promptly, but possibly up the ante. You do not have to do this. I do that when I have the points and the time. You do not have to do this.

3. You do not have to do this. Come back often to see if anything has changed. You do not have to do this. (Changes are listed at the bottom in order of their occurrences) You do not have to do this.

♣ . ♣ . ♣ Rules ♣ . ♣ . ♣
1. Grammar. Use it and use it like it's meant to be used.  All punctuations and such!
2. Spelling. Use this too.  Spellings can be different between American English and British English, but they aren't THAT different. (This means chat lingo and the like are out)
3. PG18 and below is preferred.  If you enter something over that, then make sure you say so and you post it as such.  Also, PG18 means 'Parental Guidance for children UNDER the age of 18.'  Remember that.
4. Author's Comment Box.  Use it.  It'll prove to me that you actually read everything...especially these rules.
5. Post as many times as you want.  I may tell you to stop, but right now?  Enter, enter, enter...but you have got to remember to keep with these rules.
6. Prewrites.  They are not allowed.  You may enter them, mind, but they aren't allowed.  IM me for the specifics. Any and all prewrites will be removed if you don't IM me prior to their entry(ies).  I will also remove all your other work(s) from this contest if you refuse to bide by this particular rule.
7. Comments you want recognition for must have links from the entry you want them recognized through.  No brownie points in the sense of making a better judgement or what have you.  But putting me in a good mood helps keep me from removing your works based on my opinion of whether or not you're a rude idiot that would best be used as shooting practice for a rookie police officer from the Middle East (or wherever you want him/her to be from)
8. Complaints, harassment or otherwise will remove your work from my contest(s) and I will put you on my block list.  Moreover, I am not as easy to push around as some of you might think.  I can easily put everyone on my ignore and block list if I must!
9. Ignoring any of the rules will result in disqualification and removal from the contest.
10. Anything against these rules will have a code verifying it to me that you got the okay from me.  No code? It's gone.  No buts, ifs, ands, etcs about it.
11. The information mentioned in the very very beginning of the 'Sensations' section.  I want you to list it in your comment box.  You have to do this in order to be considered for judging.
12. Remember to put the number it was gotten from prior to the information, I will not know which is which all of the time.  I'm not psychic or whatever.
13. You have to use all the sensastions.

----Points----
Gold-- 300 and trophy
Silver-- 50 and trophy (will be more if I gain more points or the write merits more, in my opinion)
Bronze-- 10 and trophy (will be more if I gain more points or the write merits more, in my opinion)
Honorable Mention(s)-- N/A (unsure) Possibly a short feature.

~~ ♥ ~~ Later Additions ~~ ♥ ~~
There aren't any.  I just made it.

I tried to be a little more specific as to what I want.  Read rule 13.

I went through the requirement section.  A moderator changed it to "suggestions."  I have added a sentence.  Hopefully enough times that everyone gets it. e_e

Enjoy!

IM-ing the hostess of this contest will result in an answer.  However, she may not answer immediately, so be patient and courteous. Thank-you.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on September 11, 2006
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
I've read each one and I believe I've commented on each one of the entries. I'm in quite the foul mood at the moment, so don't be surprised if this is the last contest for a while. e_e I have to let steam off before writing another one.

    Anyway...

Every entry that's still standing (so to speak) is a winner. You managed to get through my contest. That's a feat in itself! After all, how many of you read the entire work? Did all the work involved? ... [Read the contest completely before actually complaining about something]

I'm surprised you all even cared enough to enter really, but that is merely because of the mood I'm in today. I'm sure you'll hear me say something so sunshine and rainbows later on, you'll never even notice. [Unless you actually read this, which I doubt most, if anyone, will.]

Gold goes to: Rose Dark Thorn "Journey to a New Home"
Silver goes to: Meriweather "Shattered Upon the Ground"
Bronze goes to: Paggle "Screaming Hinges"

    Reasoning:

Gold: Rose Dark Thorn Journey to a New Home

    "IM me for the specifics."

Does that not mean anything to you?

It's her being tricksy, as prewrites really aren't allowed, but she wants to make sure everyone reads the rules. If a prewrite was entered, it's a quick way for her to know that the rules aren't being followed.

There is a screening for prewrites. In other words, they must pass my discretion before they are entered in this contest. Why? Because I've had a lot of people enter prewrites that have absolutely nothing to do with the contest.

You have to answer the questions, write a poem or story using your answers, than put your answers in your author's note.

lol ok you've aroused my curiosity here I just might enter this contest if for no other reason than to see just how good my writing skills are. I think I will applaud this simply because I like how you are trying to challenge the writers which in turn helps us to improve and I thank you for that. See you soon I hope lol if my writing skills are good enough to meet the challenge.

    Liking it

I am impressed by the effort, thought and depth you have put into the foundations of this contest. It will really make the writer think long and hard, and be far more challenging than the average contest. May the entries be numerous and most of all..interesting and well written.

I think you should follow your own rules. First read rule 2 and then read rule 13. Spell check is your friend. "sensastions"?????

umm...about the comment .. on my poem...the Lack of punctuation was intended... I never use punctuation in poetry..it makes it look like a paragraph rather than a poem. The three periods in a row (...) They are used in my poetry QUITE often, I use them as a sense of pause, a "powerful" comma if you will. Thanks for your comment... sigh see you next time.
