Hello all!!!!
This contest is for my friend and co-worker, Mary.
She was just diagnosed with breast cancer,and had to have a mastectomy
done today.
What I want from everyone here is your thoughts and feelings on this matter..I think that all of us at one point in our lives has known someone stricken with this disease.
So please every one put out some love for all those that have battled this illness, and if you have had the battle, tell me about it, how you recovered, what you went through..
All of the entries will be printed out to be given to my friend to read while she is recovering..

But first an update on Mary.
she is doing well and recovering from the sugery, she will have the drainage tubs out as of 8-25. She has told me that they are preaty confidant that they got all of it with the mastectomy. they pulled some lypmhs to check those and she is in the clear. she may not have to have the radiation or the chemo. they think they got it in the very early stages, so she is lucky.

My heart is with her. I am a Leukemia survivor. I have written a piece about it, but it's not too positive. Hard to write positive things about it, at least for me. However, I do believe your friend will make it through fine.

My sister sent me a message telling me to check out this contest. January 9th of this year I was diagnosed with Euings Sarcoma (Bone Cancer) at 16. Thanks for putting up a contest like this and letting people hear how I felt when I was diagnosed. I've realized that it's always better when you can hear someones elses stories and hear that your not alone in the battle. Thanks again

you are not as your name implies to be forsaken, This is not the first time I have delt with some one dear that had , this illness, but it's the first time I have been able to do something to help.I am so glad that you liked this and are going to put something in. thank you so much for this contest this gave me the chance to write about my grandmother she fought kidney cancer for 5 1/2 years before it spread to her brain and took her life on december 31 she was a wonderful woman and so are all of the people who battle this disease everyday thank you

An interesting competition. However, I do not like the term "cancer victims". A "victim" implies someone who suffers and does not fight back.
Cancer is something that can be fought, and I am myself fighting it at the moment, with all the weapons at my disposal - including laughter, which, you will recall, is said to be "the best medicine". Please recommend to your friend that she takes large and frequent doses of it!...
