Is a "Substainable Cease Fire" an excuse for Israeli-American aggression in the Middle Eas

I want poems or short essays which answer this question intelligently.

Personally I feel that our president has taken it upon himself to spread his form of dictatorship which he calls democracy throughout the world.  I feel that Bushy wants to be absolute ruler of the world.  What's your opinion?

Standard rules apply.

Poems or essays.  Essays should not exceed 300 words.

Limit two entries per writer.

    Merry meet Andy,
I will most assuredly be back for this, if fact I wrote it in my contest's notebook. This is a subject I feel sstrongly about. I'm sure there are others that feel that way too. You may end up with more entries than you'll know hat to do with.

Hi, first I would say people must do research go back to the time when the state of Israel came into being, look at it with an open mind, weigh the details, real ones not gutter press looking for sensational things to sell their newspaper, the problem has been around a long time, and is not as clear cut as some people would have us believe, war never solves anything and only brings misery, one must study the problem from both sides, not just one side. All the best with your comp, let's hope we will see serious writing and see people looking at both sides of the coin, point of interest in the year 1891 the population of Jerusalem was 61.9 Jewish. another point of interest in the last world war Haj Amin el-Husseini was Mufti of Jerusalem and was amongst the most enthusiastic supporters of the nazi genocide of the Jewish people, as I said it goes back a long way,so please my friends do some good research, then decide,Di

Thanks for the information. The main purpose of the contest is to consider the contemporary situation. It's roots are important, but they will not likely come out. There are not many historians among us. What I see is Bush trying to force democracy on the world, when he is acting more as a dictator. He is a very frightening man.

Indeed, I feel very afraid every time I hear Condie say "we must think about the kind of middle east we are trying to create" on the radio. What? Why are we creating a middle east? Isn't there one already there????

This contest seems very interesting and I will be sure to come back to read what have been entered. Recently I read an article on here about this subject and to me it seemed rather one sided and honestly I was surprised at how most of the people that responded leaned one way, not taking in the whole picture and making a decision from there. I do hope to see entries that are well informed and informative. I hope your contest does not lead to some angry writings here and that people don't start attacking each other as they did on the column I read. This is a very explosive subject. Good luck on your contest and I do look forward to coming back to read what has been entered.

It may well be that Jerusalem was 62% Jewish in 1891. So what? Breslau was getting on for 100% German in 1939. That didn't stop Stalin & Roosevelt giving it to the Poles. It's now Wroclaw and is 100% Polish. America was 100% tribal "Red Indian" in 1600 and Australia was 100% aboriginal in 1700. Look at them now. Is this an argument for ethnic cleansing?

Andy I won't be entering the contest but I agree with your thoughts, I was afraid of Bush since before he took office the first time. I have always felt he is power mad and his record is proving it. Good contest I'm sure it'll be very interesting.

I'll work on it. It is such a huge topic to put into words, but school is out and I can write a new essay. 300 words is like eating a piece of cake.

Bush is aggressively trying to spread his version of democracy. He forces the world to accept his decisions and he is doing pretty well at getting away with it. It is not really freedom to insist that the world bend to your will.

Apparently, if you are the dominate power and you win, whatever you do it right. That seems to be demonstrated by history. It is frustrating when you see injustice and can do nothing about it.

It's sad that "suseann" has blocked me from commenting on her stupid comments and her silly "essay". But then, what can one expect from stupid people who can't spell and whose knowledge of history and politics could be written on the back of a very small stamp?

I clicked on this expecting some kind of political essay or poem, and found a contest. I think I shall bookmark it so that I can come back and check up on your entries. Good luck on your contest.

I would enter this, but I fear my youth and impressionable mind would shine very clearly in this, and I would risk echoing the voices of admired adults around me. However, I think a contest like this inspires political thought and freedom of word, and a chance to air one's opinion without being smothered. Thank you for holding a contest like this and I hope it goes very well for you. Contests like this should be held more often - it not only encourages people to share their views but to read and be touched by those of others.
    Regards,
    Lime.

I do like the entries, but unfortunately I have been blocked by suseann for making a few suggestions as to changing her spelling and grammar. How sad it is not to be able to air one's opinion on such things. I loathe blocking facilities.
