1000 Point Contest for Forms

Due to upcoming conflicts involving family (glenda) and work (danni) we have closed the contest to new entries that we will be able to give the contest the attention it needs to be done correctly. There have not been any new entries for awhile anyway.
If you wanted to enter and did not get to, be patient, we will do another as soon as we have the points.

We love form!!
Especially rictameter, haiku, cinaquin, etheree, lanturne, pixicku  etc.
So this is a 1000 point contest for those.
Co-hosted by Danni --- Child of the Father.
We will read each entry, usually many times, often printed and read. At least one of us will comment, likely Glenda as she has more computer time.

RULES:
1)We will consider other forms --IM one of us and if we say okay, we will open that form for everyone. PLEASE note form in author's comments.
2)Short forms, under 5 lines, must be in sets of two or more but no more than 30 lines.
3) We don't care about rhyme unless the form calls for it.
4) Each poet may enter more than one poem but each much be a different form.
5) No erotica, adult humor, sticky caps etc.
6) Follow the rules. If you don't we will disqualify you and we will not remind you if you are not following the rules.
7) Stick to the traditional forms of each type of poetry. If in doubt ask. We use Shadow Poetry for form, so if you use this link you should be okay: www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/types.html
8)Write Rebel or Rule Follower in your comments (which ever you are) so we know that you read our rules.
9)No sore losers or you get blacklisted. (If you think we made a mistake as to form or rules though, it is okay to let us know).
10) ASK if you don't know or understand.

Besides form, we love other things, deal with other things that could touch our heart and judging. These are in no way required:
1) Nature
2) Spirituality
3) Female Friendship
4) Overcoming mental illness and/or  past hurts
5) Living with an elderly parent
6) Grandchildren.

Have fun and good luck. This contest may extent if we don't have enough entries by close date.

Prizes:
1) Gold trophy.gif and 500 points.
2) Silver trophy.gif and 250 points
3) Bronze Trophy.gif and 125 points
4) Runner Up-- Honorable mention and 63 points
5) Runner Up-- Honorable mention and 32 points
6) Mystery prize: 30 points (maybe more than one of these)
Total winners 6 for 1000 points total!!

Glenda and Danni

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 2, 2006
  • Rewards: Gold: 500
  • Final notes:
Round 1: We looked to see everyone had noted the form they used. 5 people had not and were eliminated.
Round 2: We looked to see if everyone had noted if they were a rebel or a rule follower. SOme indecisive people on here. Anyway, 4 poems did not note this and were eliminated.
Round 3:We looked that everyone had no less than 5 lines, and though so people pushed this rule, none were disqualified.
Round 4;Here we looked for form. If you think we were too hard on form or incorrect, sorry. We both tried very hard to be accurate. Every one was not out so it must be possible to do. We did lose 8 people though.
Round 5: Still 16 people in competition, this round we knocked out the less strong ones.
Round 6: 7 remaining poems. Now for first second etc.
    First and Gold: Ambrosial Fire
Second and Silver: Night and Day
Third and Bronze: It's more than being sad
    HM: Morning Flutterings
    HM: Rain Tonight

    Also speccal mystery awards:
Our picks that we loved even if they were disqualified on techs.
    Danni: Sunset by vicarious
Glenda Colour of Twilight by masterblaster
Please give us time to pay the points!!
Direct problems to the trash can and applause to your friends and fellow contestants, it's the nice thing to do.

We are using the shadow link as reference. We will accept many of the forms there, just IM one of us first to be sure. We don't want to judge on forms we are not competent to judge.

I've got a weird idea in here How about I write one poem with all the forms in it Like one rictameter, haiku, cinaquin, lanturne, pixiku etc.
10+3+5++5+3=26 Lines or change it and put two haikus leaving out 1 Pixiku.Something like that.Is that allowed

Hi there, is a Butterfly Cinquain allowed at all?

    This is the form...

    Cinquain Butterfly:
One nine-line cinquain stanza arranged in lines of 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2 sequential syllables (essentially a mirror cinquain fused together into one stanza dropping one of the 2 syllable lines).

    Thank you ~Lilac~

    dear glenda,
thank you so much for this inspiring contest and for having been an excellent and fair host until the end. I have felt treated with much attention, kindness and respect.
thank you as well for having made an additional effort in pointing out my mistake and explaining where my error was. I am very grateful for it and recognize my shortcoming with as much joy as I had composing my poem.
you have made a great choice picking the winners.
    much love to you,
    and take care,
