This is a contest to help me get out of my dry spell with writer's block. I want you to inspire me with a title and a first line.
The winner will be the one to inspire me enough to write a poem stemming from the title and first line (since this is an inspiration for me, the title and/or first line may not be used in the poem).
I am a contemporary writer, and I do not write religious-themed poetry, so if that's your thing, please do not include anything related to religion or spirituality, that's not the kind of inspiration I'm looking for.
My poetry stems from normal, everyday activities. Since I've been so busy this summer I haven't been able to really focus on everyday activities and need a push.
SO!
Here are the rules...
1. I want only a title and a first line. You may include up to three titles and first lines, but if you include more you'll be DQ'd.
2. Enter only once.
3. Write "PoeticEmily needs a nudge" in your comments.
PRIZES:
1st - 300 pts & gold trophy, and credit in the comments of the poem I write, stating "Thanks to so-and-so for the inspirational input"
2nd - silver trophy (maybe some points)
3rd - bronze trophy (maybe some points)
extra points for 2nd, 3rd & ONE honorable mention are possible, depending on how many points I have.
ENJOY, and THANK YOU!!!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 25, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Thank you for your help in ending my writers block, there were some great entries that really fit with my writing style and I appreciate the help so very much.
and now for the awards:
First Place - 300 pts and credit for inspiration when poem is finished
Melodies, with both a title and related first line that really respects my style and fits terrifically (is that a word) well. Congratulations, Melodies.
Title - Your Shoes
First Line - I am your pair of worn out shoes
Second Place - 20 pts
Sensual Sapphire, for a title and separate first line that speak to me and give me a hint of humor, sparking a comic feeling that may turn in to a piece. Great Job.
Title - Newspaper Clippings
First Line - fill it to the top, a triple shot
Third Place - 10 pts
Leance, with a title that makes me think a bit. This title could spark several poems, with many different ideas popping up. Makes me think, and really sparks my imagination and attention. Good Job.
Title - Belated Business
Honorable Mention - 5 pts
Bloody Black Rose, with a segment of a first line that expresses two senses in five words, just a terrific spark to my creativity, thank you.
First Line segment - sun rays on my back
I wish I could have offered more points to 2nd, 3rd and HM, but they just aren't available. Thank you so much for the assistance, and good luck to everyone in your own search for inspiration.

Darling PoeticEmily
I'll bookmark this since I have to think about three titles and lines. Smoosh
Janet -
I can't think of titles- even for my own poems. Interesting way to get rid of writer's block (btw, love the little cartoon.
I need that sometimes) Some first lines I've nevr got around to using:
I've learned to take life with a twist of lime
The fifth dimention(sp?) is hiding under your long black lashes
Titanics and towers may come and go/but even the ancient nile will flow
Sorry that the last ones two lines, but I'm not realy entering this contest. -
This is a nice idea for a contest, I'd like to see which one wins. I might enter it later if I get a chance. Good luck with conquering your writer's block.
