This contest is for poems or short essays about your views on the war in Iraq.
I want serious points of view; pro, con, or in between. Anything not serious will be ignored.
If you can put your views in a poem and make it good, more brownie points for you. If not, just write a short essay, at least 75 words and no more than 300.
I will tell you up front that I felt we should never have invaded Iraq. If you take the position that we should have invaded, you need to support it well. If you are somewhere in the middle, be convincing.
Points may be awarded to second, third and perhaps to honorable mentions if I am impressed. Points for first may be increased if I believe the winner is publishable.
Standard rules apply.
One entry per writer.
IM me if you have questions.

Hey!I cannot even read what this contest is about! Please change the background!
-
Well Miss Stranger. I can read it, but I will change the background to make it easier. Are you green and red color blind? I didn't think of that. Some people are. Thanks. Give me a few minutes.

No time to write anything. Too bad you aren't accepting prewrites as I have some good ones.
-
The contest is open until the 20th.
-
Rawr, I have a prewrite that I really want to enter into this contest...It's called 'Another Statistic'. Here's a link to it. Since your views on the war are sort of the same as mine you should take a look.

good idea i am neither pro or con it sad that blood is spilled on either side we are suppose be the age of technology yet we can not disagree with out killing people. i think that is sad it brings out good poerty either way have a fun contest i like reading about your contest have a great day -
I am glad you think it is a good idea for a contest. Hope you will have an entry.

This is a great idea for a contest, but I wouldnt want to read the poems, most of them will be how people hate bush and the war, people who dont like our soldiers because they kill people sometimes innocent. War is bad... of course it is. There are really no rules in war, that doesnt mean you cross the line. The people who complain about soldiers conduct, well give them a gun and put them under fire. The people who complain about the war and our soldier who are dieing. What would you have, the terrorist blowing themselves up on our soil or over there. It wouldn't be nice to have to worry about which bus is strapped with explosives. Bush was right to go in, we are helping Iraq see a democracy, which is the best form of government we know of. He may not do everything right, but you don't kick a man in his weak spot for a few mistakes. He can't please everyone in the country.
SO WRIGHT A POEM SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS!!!!! WOOT!!!! HOORAH!

If I believed Bush, I would still think it was wrong to invade another country. Iraq was not linked to 9/11. I do support our soldiers and now that we have destroyed their government, it is necessary that we stay until a new government is firmly in place. Unfortunately, we may have to stay indefinitely.
