Do you have what it takes to be the iron poet?
actually, this is my first contest, I've been here for a month now and gathered some points... today I finally found some guts to open a contest
This is an option contest
But before the options, here are the rules:
1.)rhyming poems please
2.)No TyPiNg LiKe ThIs or LIKE THIS or lyk ds
3.)no erotica, I'm old enough for that (just turned 18) but it's still disturbing...
4.)Make sure your poem relates to the option you chose.
5.)Use appropriate BG colors and Font Colors.
6.)Write the number of the option you chose in the author comment box. Write 'Option #'
7.)A combination of options will do you a little good...
8.)no prewrites
9.)ONE entry per poet
Here are your options:
1.) Write a poem using the following titles. Please relate it to your poem
>Laughter >Gasping For Air >In His/Her Eyes
>Under The Stars >A Thousand Reasons To Smile
>Grab The Heavens >Burn In My Light >Your Games
>Blossoms >Change The World >Twilight
>Can't Turn Back Time >Capsize >Chimera
>Photo Album >Stigmatized >Severed Soul
2.) Write a poem about a person who feels alone. That he or she should stand up and pick up the pieces. That he or she should believe that the world needs him/her. That the world is a lonely place without him/her. Tell that person that he/she became you're recluse.
(yup I'm doing this for someone real special to me here on AP). Note, if you pick this option, you can either make it for someone you love or a special friend or a special family member, I don't care as long as that person is special.
3.)Okay, I'm really feeling bored, I'm in 3rd year college and classes start next week. Write me a poem to cheer me up or make me feel that I'm ready to take on school again.
Judging
Please IM me if there is something I did wrong. Any suggestions are also welcome.
The format of judging will be a percentage system. (may change)
40% --- message (did the poem succeed in conveying it's message?)
20% --- rhyme (is it a rhyming poem? how well does it rhyme?)
5% --- challenge (are more options chosen for the entry?)
20% --- originality and appeal (never been done before? is it a good read?)
10% --- Imagery (did the background/images [if any] fit well with the theme?)
5% --- Other Stuff (Editing, being sport falls here, so be nice)
So Imagery and others are pretty much giveaways, I put it there so you'd follow the rules. 5% maybe the difference of winning and losing
so do your best. Also, be nice, I assure you that an 18 year old boy is not really good in judging, that's why I have some of my AP family help me judge this contest.
>> Prizes
1st place - 301 pts, Gold trophy plus the title † Iron Poet †
2nd place - 50 pts and a Silver Trophy
3rd place - 25 pts and a Bronze Trophy

Plus, Recluse Writer's favorite poems get 50 pts additional.

I am very pleasantly surprised to log on and see that my poem was one of the winners in this contest. I always like good contests that offer a challenge, and have a strong basis for its criteria. It makes it even more fun to enter. You did a great job with your first contest. And even if I hadn’t won, I still would have said the same thing.

Thank you for awarding my poem Penz it was good fun to see it develop. I'm glad you were judging it, I don't think I could have been able to pick between quite a few of the entries. Good luck in the future
