Hello, there.
This contest is only for those who have lost. Lost anyone, anything, any form of life.
Today is my mom's birthday, May 15th, and this is her first birthday (since I've been alive) I won't be sharing with her. She died on October 31st (yes, Halloween) from suicide (drug overdose, I knew you were wondering).
I want poems that describe the gut wrenching, horrifying feeling that you feel when you've lost that person/thing. I want these to be as real, as true, as thoughtful as you can make it.
Make me cry, again.
Here are the things I'll be judging you on:
1. The feeling. As I've said before, and I'll say again: MAKE ME FEEL IT.
2. The way you present your piece. I want the colours to work, and pictures or fonts to flow with your poem.
3. Grammar and spelling. If you think that periods or capitols or lowercase letters wouldn't bring the effect you want to your poem, please don't make me ask that you change it. If you feel strongly with your use of grammar, keep that way. I want them to look and feel their best. As for spelling, I will promptly kill you with a cheese grater if you don't have the time to click the "spell check" button.
And the prizes:
First place: 399 points and a piece of golden crap.
Second place: 147 points and a piece of worthless silver crap.
Third place: 38 points and a piece of shit the AP people found in a dump.
**NOTE: I may choose to end the contest earlier/later if I choose to do so.
Now, get writing.. please.
**EDIT:
1. I may/may not comment on your piece. Do not take it as though I haven't read it, more as a "I don't have any bold comments".
2. You may enter two poems.
3. I'll DQ (Dairy Queen)you within 30 minutes of me finding mistakes in your entry.
More may be added later.
**EDIT II:
I will be opening the prewrite thingy from now (8:53pm pacific) until whenever I get back on.
**EDIT III:
I'm a) closing the prewrites.
going away for the weekend and am not positve when or if I'll be able to get online. So, I'll be extending the deadline for an extra five days or until all the slots are used.
**EDIT IV:
I'm expanding the deadline some MORE only because I want to make sure that everyone who wanted to enter did. AND, I'm too tired to judge right now.

I am so sorry for you loss, I lost my oldest son October 15,2005, from the very same thing. I have many poems posted about him. This was my first mothers day without him. The "firsts" are always the hardest. You have my blessings. If you ever want to talk about it you know where to find me.
-

Sorry about your mom. I wish you the best. I lost 2 ppl in my life so far. First, my grandfather whaen I was like 2, I'm not sure, I wasn't old enough to hurt about his death. But according to stories of him, I missed out on a great man. Secondly came my nephew, who I wrote my entry for. He died on Oct. 21, 2005. It hurt ALOT. It hurts in the beginning, and it's gonna keep hurting, but even tho you have to except it. It was a choice of God, whether you like it or not. He was a wonderful kid. I hate that he died so young (he was 8 yrs. old), and at the time I was wishing I were dead. After it happened I took a new turn. I stopped cutting and found love. Woke up enjoying life, all for him. But I still wish he were still here to share it all.
Nice Contest.

Sorry about your mum. I kind of know how it feels. This is a really good idea for a contest, but not the best one to make you forget, well at least get over it. But anyway I would love to know who wins this. Anyways, have fun reading through all these entries and have a good day.
-
Wow, that's like so sad with that sprinkle of smiles at the end. I'm so sorry for your loss of your grandfather and nephew.
Thanks.
-
I'll send you like a little alarm clock or something when I finish judging. You should enter something. By the way, marshmellow goth is a great username. <3
-
I feel your pain - I lost someone close to me to suicide as well (he was a drug addict but he hung himself). Unfortunately writing about him doesn't come easy to me and the only piece I have is a definite work-in-progress - so I won't be entering. But goodluck with judging all of these great entries.

Aww. *hugs* Thanks.

I just came across this and will try and write something before the deadline, I lost my brother through suicide 11 years ago he was only 21(carbon monoxide posioning) so I can relate to your pain and heartache totally,my thoughts are with you and it gets a little easier everyday that passes hun xxx
-
Wow, thanks.

Im sorry if the poem i wrote was nonesense for everyone, i was just inspired by the make it hurt line,,,and the story of our very own contest maker,, and it did hurt, you made me remember bad stuff in my life and i just wanted you to know what i felt for myself and you(the contest maker),(this comments a bit plain of vanity and selfishness,, aint it?)
-
Well, I'm really sorry if I brought back memories that were really painful that you didn't want brought back. Personally, I love these types of comments, the little random ones that you're not sure how people will respond to (or at least that's the feeling I'm sensing from this one). But let me tell you I'm the pro-est pro at these types of comments and I just want to tell you it's appreciated.
