Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 29, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 500
- Final notes: Ah, the hate part of my love-hate relationship with contest hosting... having to award the trophies. I hope the cerative process was enjoyable for all who entered. I enjoyed reading the different directions taken from the theme. THat said, it must be done.
Gold goes to cvillelisa's "To Akahito from the Salt-girl"
Silver to "Minor Vices" by Slick Wasdsworth
and bringing home the bronze NurseChilly's "Poetry is White".
I will refrain from issuing honourable mentions publically as I wouldn't know where to stop, but I must point out that Subversive's "Whiteshirts" was a definite contender.
Thanks all for entering.

Burning House is always encouraged to see poets promote undressing. Burning House particularly approves of contests that subliminally suggest that everyone should get out of their pants, or at least in someone else's. Yes, that has "Burning House Seal of Approval" written all over it. Burning House wonders where all the naked poets are, though. Should not Jantastic post an image of 20 naked poets, instead of 20 empty jeans, and ask "What does this inspire?"
Also, Burning House notes that Jantastic asks for inspiration from clothes. Burning House therefore is confused why the contest makes no effort to draw inspiration from the giants of fashion -- Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Janet Jackson (especially outfits for the Super Bowl), and/or J-Lo (especially where outfits for the Grammies are concerned)...
Nonetheless, promoting getting poets out of their pants is by itself worthy of Burning House praise, and hence Burning House will applaud. -
because your mine, I walk the line.

I have this line
"You thought you were my everything
but you were just the line
to hang the linen"
which I found in the front of an old notebook- I couldn't think of a poem to go with it...
I thought of it when I read your poem- maybe I can come up with a poem that I could use my old love/laundry lines with... -
i wish my muse had shown up for this one...
