Time for me to hold a new contest, and this one is a tribute to my good friend, my little sister on AP, our persian princess Shahrzad...
Happy birthday, princess Shahrzad!
Shahrzad Maftooh turns 28 years old on Sunday, April 30th 2006. What I want is a birthday poem or tribute to Shahrzad. Get to know her, and I know your poem will touch her heart. Any style is allowed, as long as it is a tribute to Shahrzad. Prewrites are allowed, but your poem must be written in tribute to Shahrzad, or it will be disqualified... Family or friends will be judged equal to anybody else, everyone has an equal chance of winning this contest.
The prizes are: 500 points for 1st place, 300 points for 2nd place, and 200 points for 3rd place.

- Final notes: This was a hard contest to judge... I had to consider and reconsider several times to come to this conclusion. I had to pull in Shahrzad to get her opinion on which was her favorites, and merged those with my favorites. Some may not agree with my choice, but you are all winners in my eyes.

I don't have time at the moment to read the other entries so far but will do so later.
Did you mean for the contest to allow pre-writes? It doesn't seem like anyone would have a really appropriate poem alrady done...just wondering?

Hi, Dee! Yes, I allow prewrites, because some may have written a poem that is perfect for Shahrzads' birthday earlier, or maybe wrote something moments before I started the contest... As long as it's to Shahrzad, or maybe a general congratulations, it's good in my book. Only thing I don't like is when people go in and change their poems to fit the contest... Well, thanks for the comment! Jim

To my wonderful brother and sister, I want to thank you both for hosting such a lovely contest. Shahrzad my little sister and yes, a princess indeed. HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAY WISHES FOR YOU. This must have been very hard to judge with all the entries that were done. Also the talent that is in here. Thank you for the honorable mention, it was so nice to see that when I finally got a chance to come and see the results. It was such a pleasure just to do a poem for my baby sister here.
