Dragons, Goblins and Elves! Oh my!

Well, as you can guess from the title this contest is about/for Dragons, Goblins and/or Elves.
But there are some specific things I would like to see so I have given you 6 options.

Options:
1) Battles between the species (either between two or all three. There must be a definite outcome at the end of your poem)

2) Poems dedicated to the species listed (only Dragons, Goblins and Elves)

3) Dragons and goblins getting along

4) Dragons and Elves Getting along

5) Elves and goblins getting along

6) Dragons, Goblins and Elves getting along

I want originality and creativity.
(note: Any type of Elves or Goblins you are familliar with can be used. But if you use J.R.R.Tolkien's please also put it in the authors comment box. So I know)

Rules:
1. No sticky caps. You will be disqualified

2. I want them to be a minimum of 10 lines and you can make the poems as long as you would like after that.

3. PUT THE OPTION you choose IN THE AUTHOR'S COMMENT BOX OR I WON'T JUDGE YOUR POEM even if it is really good.

4. No more than two poems per person (or they will all be disqualified)

5. Check your spelling please. (exceptions made for words not found in spell check like Faerie)

6. No prewrites EDIT: I am excepting prewrites for the last strech of the contest Enter now...but I would still like originals)

7. Have fun

(Note: If you want to combine options then please put both option numbers in the AUTHOR'S COMMENT BOX)

1st place is 300 points

2nd is worth 50 points

3rd is worth 25 points

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 30, 2006
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
I had a wicked hard time choosing the winners for this. There were so many good entries and I thank you all for entering.

These are the absolute best Poems entered in my opinion.
First place: Dark Fairy - Elvish History by roj47
Second place: The Elf and the Ice Dragon (this is Long) by Amythest Moonjade
Third Place: LOTR:The Hobbit (Revised) by wakingdevil
(If I had more points there would be)
Fourth Place: Elf and the Dragon by Elfin (this one was really cute and I wish soooo much I could give out more points...maybe a ribbon or something...)
Fifth place: Twinkling Treasure by silentlyscrEEming (another one I liked)
Sixth place: Section 'New' by A Thought Persists (this too was a very good piece)

Everyone did a great job and I really loved all the entries.
Thank you all for hanging in there as I kept this contest running for so long.

I'm not very good at writing fantasy poetry... I've only had one "fantasy" type of writing... and it was a story. Now, when you refer to "elves" do you mean the kind of Elves that J.R.R. Tolkien created with Lord of the Rings... the taller, blonde hair kind? Or do you mean the typical elf who is short... similar to the D&D version if you've played it? Just curious... Anyways, cool contest! I hope you get what you are looking for

hmmmm....... Why do I suddenly see some weird erotic poem about an Elf and Gobling getting on to create and Elfling or Gobelf?
*shrugs* maybe I should get out more. LOL
I will put my mind into action with the Dark Fairy Tales.
    No shameless promotions *rolls eyes*
    Regards.

To bad that we can't write about dark evil fairies that cause corruption throughout the land of all non-dark faeries. Then I'd be able to enter. LOL! Great Contest! Hope you get a lot of entries!

Sounds like a fun contest. I have not really written much fantasy-like poems, but if you wish...and I would love your comment, please check out my poem called "If I believed in Fairytales"..if you like, I will surely try out one that evolves to this criteria.

    Hmm...interesting

This is really a unique contest. I think that it has potential and will inspire some creativity on the parts of its participants. Not sure how I would do it, but I am sure that someone out there would be able to.

Many are really into the fantasy genre, but alas, I am not. Too rooted in fact, not fiction. Will check back to read some of these entries though. Good topics for a contest.
