Just 10 commandments? Salvation?

I am only accepting 30 entries...

OK, this is what I want...

options  YOU MUST PROVIDE SCRIPTURE REFERENCES!!!

1.  Did God only give Ten Commandments?

2.  Was Israel to live according to only the Ten Commandments or to the THOUSANDS of commandments that God gave in the Old Testament?

3.  Is following the Ten Commandments necessary to gain salvation?

4.  Why did God give the commandments that were given in the Old Testament?

5.  According to the Bible - what is needed for salvation?

6.  What exactly does Jesus say is needed to gain Salvation?

7.  What must one do to be saved?

8.  What does this mean?  Galatians 5: 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

RULES:

No cursing
No erotica
No religion bashing

human gave itself the ten commandments. human gave itself a god. human created stories that were convincing and cleverly designed to herd the masses like sheep and make them believe that there was some huge deity in the sky that would destroy them if they didn't do its bidding. what kind of higher power would do that to its own children? why wouldn't a maternal energy source want its children to be free, to roam the galaxies with an open mind, liberated and able to do as they felt? "god" is human's excuse for not fully comprehending this infinity of being that we float through. but it can't the truth. the "gods" that we create are born from our incredible imagination, just like the ancient egyptians had their set of beliefs, the aztec, the greeks, etc. who is anyone to say that their own beliefs are any better than anyone else's? any more correct? people just like to glorify themselves and their own nationalities, but in reality no race is superior to any other, and neither are any civilizations' opinions on where this universe is or what it forms a part of. we are but mere particles in this endless cycle of existence...who are we to say that we fully comprehend where we come from? we don't, and we probably never will. i mean no offense to you or your beliefs, but i don't understand why people waste their time actually believing a book that is about as real as the lord of the rings. tolkien was a much better author, anyway.

    Great idea!

Why didn't you just enter it instead of giving a speech? That's all BS anyway. It's a great idea for anyone with a HUMAN brain, which you don't possess. I simply don't have the time but somehow found this.
GOD is what you wish him to be, is that it? I think that's EXACTLY why this planet is so messed up my friend. But no matter. What is coming you, nor I can stop. And be sure- it IS coming.

Now if the Contest Creator will pardon me, I will wish many a good reply in this contest. And far less morons. WOOT!

    Nice name though there...zero...

how was my comment in any way disrespectful? i just wanted to state my opinion and share it, so people could see another point of view...i even said that i meant no offense. maybe you guys are a little way too sensitive about people not accepting your beliefs?

Dolom Zero, I wasn't offended by your comments for I realize that you have a right to believe as you wish. I think it's ok to let others know that you disagree with them and I do not feel threatened in my beliefs when people disagree with me. Actually, it's quite the opposite at times, it usually causes me to examine what I believe.. and either I find I am wrong, or I get stronger in my beliefs...

I didn't think you were being disrespectful.. it's all good.. ok?

thanks dude ^_^ i'm glad you see where i'm coming from. someone who truly knows their own beliefs is never afraid of (and in most cases encoourages) criticism. i think it's always best to accept all ideas, take the bits and pieces from each that make you a better person, and grow with them. there are also many beautiful and enlightening things to behold from religion, it's not all wrong. good luck with your contest, peace.

These are really interesting prompts, I hope you get lots of great poetry!! Seems like one of the themes here is the whole struggle between faith and works, and alot of good, deep poetry can come from that. It's kinda like Luther said, "You are saved by faith alone, but if faith is alone it is not faith." Really difficult, but I think you're gonna get some great stuff. I'll be checking back on this one!!

I was a bit harsh. Factually Mr. Zero, in all fairness, the 'end of the world' was originally slated for 1975- supposedly the end of 6000 years of man on Earth and the Seventh 'Day' beginning- to some faiths anyway.

Free Will...well...if there isn't a general consensus to what is right, and wrong- regardless of religion, then there is chaos. But that...is another story.

I meant no harm either. Just a bad day. Take care.

ok NOW I'm offended LOL.. you called me a dude! I'm a dudette thank you very much! LOL...

As far as my beliefs go... yes, I have no problem when they are criticized (spelling)because it makes them stronger and I see no reason to run from something that I am sure of!

    Have a nice night!

It sounds like a good contest but I don't know what to enter, I thought I'd share my take on that quote in option #8 though. Here's what I think it means,

All Jews should follow the Lord. You don't believe in the true God so you've fallen from grace. For we wait with faith/belief for righteousness. Whether you are a jew or not doesn't matter. It matters whether or not you have faith in God and do his work. So walk in the spirit and you won't sin. If you sin you won't get to heaven. And if you walk in the spirit you will.

But, don't quote me on that and feel free to tell me what you think about it. I'm not very knowledgable really.

I think where I said "Jew" would apply to anyone though.

Hey Melissa I'm glad to see you are running another contest. I like the idea of this one. Couple of questions, though. On option 5, do you mean the Old Testament Bible, New Testament Bible, or the entire Bible? And wouldn't what Jesus said be included in that Bible (similar to option 6)? Also, do you want poems or just like an explanation? Because I have an idea of what to write, but not in a poetry form. Well, anyways, thanks so much for hosting another contest. Good luck to all who enter

#5... the whole Bible... any part of it. IE... Old testament...looking TO Christ... #6 is ONLY what Jesus personally said about Salvation (can't use Old Testament or scriptures after His death, like Romans, only HIS Words actually spoken)

I prefer poems, but will accept anything but nothing really LONG.

Hmm, I think I know what that passage means, but I don't think I can put it into poem form. Oh well. All the best with getting what you want from your contest.

Congratulations to everyone!! Great Contest. I thank God we aren't to live by the law any more....to do so is to fall from grace. That's why Blood was shed on Calvary....so we could receive the righteousness of Christ...I will not deny my Lord!!!
    Praise God!!!
