Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 19, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Before announcing the winners, I'd like to say a huge thank you to all those who entered this contest. A huge thank you also to all those of you who have supported this contest by applauding my works, this contest and my Diary page. This contest has been a massive success in terms of the quality of work produced and as a result this contest has been my hardest contest by far to judge.
I have tried to critique each piece as best I can and I apologise in advance if your critique was not as indepth as one might have liked. I have tried my best to point out obvious mistakes and suggest ways of improving your works.
I’d also like to say before posting the results that I hope you don’t look at the results and see your name not there and be sad. Most people check the top three and don’t bother to consider what they’ve gained from this experienced from this. Hopefully, you will realise that by writing for contests on set topics will help you improve your writing, especially by reading feedback from fellow entrants and myself. Also, if you hadn’t have seen this contest, you would have never written those poems you entered. Every single entry was of an excellent standard; many of them provided me with a lot of joy to read. How can we be disappointed when what we have written has made someone happy? In a world where it seems only winning counts; perhaps we should ponder on that thought.
Finally, before announcing the winners, I’d like to say that I was a little disappointed in having to disqualify at least 3 entries for not following the rules. While I appreciate in this contest it took people a long time to write these works, it also takes a lot of time to critique over 20 entries and pay for the prize out of my own wages. Moreover, many of the entries that were disqualified were likely to receive at least honourable mentions, even trophies. Again these entries were wonderful to read and I appreciate you entering them. It is just frustrating not be able to include them in the judging.

Well done to all the winners and I thank you all for taking part in this contest. The results will be added to my Diary section shortly. If your entry hasn’t been applauded yet, look to the diary for updates.
I’m also going to be creating a new Contest Club where we can have collective contests and poetry sections, based upon principles of fairness and integrity. If you are interested in taking part, please IM me and we can try and organise something.
Thanks again for all your time and patience!
Much Love,
Pinkypants
