Several options for any kind of writer.

Alright, this is my first poetry contest, so I'm going to do my best to make it organized and understandable.
First, I will start with my several options.

1.Write a poem about what you would see if you could look through someone's eyes. This has to be someone you know very well, such as a family member or a close friend.

2.Write a symbolism poem. If you'd like to know what I mean by this, look at my poem entitled "like glass". Note: this is just an example.allpoetry.com/Poem/1475281 That is the link.

3.Write a poem about Josef Mengele (ask.com if you don't know who he is) or the Holocaust.

4.Write a poem about insanity. Here I want a lot of symbolism, and metaphors as well. And by insanity I don't mean crazy as in loopy crazy, more of a calm crazy, I want you to write it from inside their head, what they see feel and think. I have a poem for an example: allpoetry.com/Poem/1771371

5.Write a poem about how something makes you feel. By this I mean, how it makes you feel inside, what it makes you think, and what it does to you.

6.Write me a short story about anything. Except something silly and foolish, of course. This is for serious shorts.

7.Write about the feelings of a statue, what they think feel and see. This, again, should be mostly serious unless you can find a well thought out way to tie it in.

8.Write about what goes on underneath the water. This is to be SPOOKY AND UNNERVING! I want you to transform my thoughts, I want you to convince me and I want you to make me afraid of water!!!

9.Sum up history in either 10 or 12 lines. This is history from the beginning of the world to the end. This is probably the biggest challenge of my options. There shall be no leeway on the lines. Not eleven, not nine, not thirteen. Ten OR twelve.

10.Write about something that envisions everything as pale. No comedy, this must be serious.

11.Write about a material, such as glass, wood, metal. Use lots of symbolism, similes, and metaphors. Describe how it makes you feel, think, and believe.

Rules.
1)NO sticky caps, NONE AT ALL!!!
2)No chat lingo.
3)Check your spelling for the slightest mistakes. Run it through with a fine toothed comb.
4)Check your grammar and punctuation. Check it very carefully.
5)You may enter pre-writes, but I want them to be well thought out.
6)NO EROTICA! I don't need to hear it, and if you enter it you will be disqualified immediately!
7)No self harm or gore shall be allowed. If it is in your poem, you will be disqualified. My dog's name is Coal.
8)The breaking of bones shall not be mentioned here.
9)Cannibalism is not acceptable in the least.
10)I want you to think your poems out well and spend some time on them.
11)No God bashing, President Bush bashing, or the bashing of anyone else.
12)NO comedy unless otherwise stated in the above options.
13)Nothing in the general categories of things that will make me sick.
14)If you have read the rules, write the name of my dog in your verdict box or somewhere in a comment.
15)Have fun!(someone had a problem with me using the word "NAZI" here, so I'm changing it. Happy??
16)You may only enter two poems. This means any two poems, to pre writes, one pre write and a new, two news. Whatever you would like to do but only 2 per person.

I will try to comment on your poems, but if I happen to not, please don't assume that I didn't like it. I may give you pointers and pick out spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistakes, but please don't take it wrongly.
Thank you and I hope that you find interest in this!
Hollyann.
P.s. I can't change the points, but there will now be more points that I am giving to second and third place. The points are as follows:
1st place: 300 points.
2nd place: 60 points.
3rd place: 50 points.
Thank you, we close today so best wishes to all!

Hello. Great contest idea. I have a question though. Are we allowed to enter more than one piece? For example, can we enter a prewrite and a new piece?

I'd like to give a note to everyone on this contest, I will not allow poetry that I have spoken against in my rules. Already I have had to disqualify one person for entering a poem with explicit content. I don't want to see it, and I will delete it immediatly. I'm not giving leeway in this contest, so don't even try me.

No problem. It's somewhat of a dissapointment that there are only 14 entries and it's been open two days. Well, it's my first contest so I guess this is what I should have expected it.
