Holy shit this sucks. I just wrote a poem about Katrina literally less than ten minutes ago!!!
And you don't allow prewrites
I just got back from the coast today. Yeah, that's where I spent New Year's Day. It was... disturbing to say in the least. Our family house is gone.
-
I have a wonderful prewrite called N'awlins where Y'at (was written immediatly after the storm.) But I see you are not accepting prewrites.
-
sad taht you don't allow pre-writes, I had a really good one for this. Oh well, i hope you get lots of entries!
-
please change your mind and allow prewrties I have some good ones about Katrina

Leave her alone if she doesnt want prewrites she doesnt want prewrites. If she decideds she wants prewrites she will (really hoping your a she by the way) I'll try and come up with something for this, but ive never really written anything in these kind of lines before, but i'll try.
have a great time with this contest though, you deserve it,
and also brilliant idea to get peoples views out.

Hmm.. I'm a victim of Rita.. can I write about that? If so I might be able to get, I dunno.. maybe not. Guess I'd just have to see..
-
good contest and theme, Just, and my thoughts will continue to be with you and others caught in the tragedy of Katrina. thanks for the silver and congratulations to all the winners. I've read some really good poems here.

I'm wondering if perhaps you didn't comment on my entry because I didn't comply, if so I must have misread your description. Please understand I didn't intend to offend or annoy. I wrote my entry after viewing dozens of photos snapped by my favorite author, Poppy Z. Brite, who lives in NOLA and definately lost things because of Katrina (a few cats, and things from her personal library- plus her house is now falling down). I thought her photos spoke strongly about the destruction, but still a sense of hope. I think it's easiest to understand my poem if you've seen the photos that inspired it so I hope you did (unless they'd upset you, in which case I understand). Anyways sorry it wasn't what you were looking for. You do have my sympathy, whether you want it or not.
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners! -
Well, if you get a chance to comment on my poem "Stairs to Nowhere" I'd really appreciate and I'll return the favor (just send me a link to what you want critiqued) but I'm going to take it out of the contest now. Here's a link though: allpoetry.com/Poem/1752412
