Number One Dad/Daughter

Well, this contest is for the importance of father daughter relationships and how it can change a girl (or mans..) life. I want inspiration, I want humor, I want the importance of it. If you're a father write about your daughter(s) and how you want to be a part of their lives.. and if your a daughter write about your father, write about your relationship with him and not just your biological fathers/daughters.. that could mean your fathers/daughters here on AP, your step-fathers/daughters your grandfathers/daughters.

I heard a quote once, but I cant remember it word for word but it was something along the lines of "A father spends years raising his baby into a wonderful woman, then spends years trying to make her his baby again." or something along those lines.

Rules, I dont have many
1) No cussing/sticky caps or erotica(duh)
2) No prewrites
3) Enter 2 times if you'd like
4) Have fun

1st place-500 pts
2nd place-250 pts
3rd place-125 pts

I will award points to those that enter AND those points listed above are what the winners will AT least get.. it might be more!

I never knew my father, but I had a special relationship with my Grandpa, who was basically my father figure, and he passed away a few years ago, so I may have to write something for this contest...but I might not have time this week, but I see you're leaving this open for quite a while, so I will definitely find time to enter

This is a beautiful contest, and I will try to write something for you. I have been thinking a lot lately about how special my dad is to me, and it's about time I let him know. Do you have a preference for rhyme, or freeverse?

No preference, I enjoy rhyming poems (only because I cant write one, well I can just not well) but I also like freeverse.. so whatever floats your boat!

I like this idea...you should get some interesting entries. Of course most people here would probably prefer to bash their parents, but I'd like to read some positive ones. Humor you say...hmmm, I can do humor.

This will be tough. I've got three daughters of my own and eight AP daughters and a bunch of AP grandaughters (glances at contest holder and smiles). Will be tough to figure this out so I think I'm gonna try.

This might be tough for me to right.. as not always can I get what I want to say about someone important in my life down on one piece of paper. I have a wonderful realtionship with my dad and grandad but i'm sure you'll get many fantastic and maybe tearjerking entries

    Great Contest

This is a great contest and I wish I could enter it but unfortunataly I don't have the time to sit down and write a quality new poem about my daughter. I do have one that I wrote for her, and she now has it in a frame on her wall.I think you would get a lot more entries from adults if prewrites were allowed. You should understand that most adults just don't have the time to whip out a poem on short order( we can't think as fast as you young whipper snappers. hahahaha!!) Anyway, If you change your mind please let me know, I would love to submit "A Jewelers Passion". Good luck with your contest. Lovin Charmer...

That picture alone was enough to make me pretty much start crying...what a beautiful contest.

In my life, the most father-like figure I've ever had is my brother...he's my best friend, he really is. He's so wonderful...he gives me great big hugs and tells me he loves me every single day... ...I dunno what I would ever do without him, he's my personal saviour.

hehe, would that count as an entry? lol Only joking. This is such a great contest... ...

    Hi,
Thanks for your comment. I would like to say just one thing, I had this contest open for about three weeks now, and usually I do allow them to go longer but for personal reasons I cant, and I dont think its fair to those that have entered to NOW allow prewrites.
Sorry, look for my contests next time, and hopefully youll have enough time to whip up a poem.

Hi Malzy! I have a poem titled "Fatherless Child" that I would love for you to read. It is a prewrite or I would have entered it. It is my best piece I think. This is a great topic for a contest......Doc
