The poem, "the emily in me", by Redstormy made me wonder what people would think about me as a poet now or after I die. That's the inspiration for this contest. No, I am not wanting to die or anything. I have seemed to have gotten past the hardest trail of my life thus far...and survived...but just barely. LOL!
Anyway, what would you write about me as a poet or say at my funeral? Please read some of my poems in the love category, or personal category...investigate my heart. Then write about what rises up from your poet heart.
I would like for you to find an artistic metaphor (a pic or art form/painting, that symbolizes something you see in me) to use as your Poet "Image" over the poem. But in your comments, say what photograph moved you to write about me. When I finally write a book of poetry, I might want to use your poem or comments in my introduction.
Points will be distributed for second and third places. Depends on the quality of the poems. If I see people went the extra mile and really got into it, I'll reward you somehow.
In summation, you can write a poem or write eloquently about what you see in me through my pics and writings.
I humbly thank you for taking time to help me in this interest. All contributions will be appreciated.
Lastly, please read Redstormy's poem and comment on it:

I guess I want to be "remembered" with kindness on a day by day basis. To know what my fellow poets think of me (good or bad) is not going to influence what poem I choose for a trophy. Truth without compassion is cruelty...but other than that, say what you will. I know I have character flaws. But I have strengths, too.
That being said...
Who do YOU say I am?
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 8, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 500
- Final notes: I wish I could say I have chosen the path of sacred wisdom at all points of my life, but I can't. I can say I tried to help others and care, no matter how I felt. So as I rest in gratitude for these people who showed up to care, I wonder where the ones are that I show up for? Such is life, though. Sometime we show up to read at our own funeral to learn what part of us needs to live and what parts need to die. Standing at the graveside, a mere finger push would be enough to do the job. That's why I can say I trust I am supposed to be here. I feel protected by the ones God sends at the right times.
Thanks one and all.
Peace Through Love,
ET Timothy

is this contest closed???
-
No...it's open...I didn't put in the right year...I'm such a retard.

I've never written a eulogy however due to my uncle's Amazigh's birthday contest for me I have about a hundred poems to read, I think, but if you submit say about five then I can come back and enter your contest. It's just responding to a hundred poems of every type takes so much time I might not be able to distract myself that much. Great idea though and I'll bookmark this and tell my friends about it. Merry Cheery Xmas on my birthday.

First, let me say, the phrase Investigate My Heart is great. It might inspire a poem of my own. I'm on my way to do just..

Sounds interesting... Me likes. I would enter but my personal life is pretty disturbing, you don't want to know what I mean or if you do read my poetry. All the best

I would be happy to enter, but I'm unclear on something: what is your handle? (Example: mine is ocerus.) Is it, "Warm Eyes of Love? I think it is, but I'm not completely clear on this. Please advise!

A very interesting idea! This reminds me of my favorite saying. I learned it somewhere along the way in a classroom during my management training. It goes, "If your people think you're an A--hole, then you are one." Honest feedback from others is the best mirror we have at our disposal. I applaud your courage in placing your head on the chopping block in this contest. I will return with an entry. Great idea!! I hope you get what you are looking for out of it--have fun!
Thanks,

Hi Li and thanks for the comment. Wish I could help with cheering you up. There are many different kinds of cheer. Humor is only one. How many drunks does it take to screw in a light bulb? Two...one holds the bulb in place, the other drinks until the room spins.
Wish I could do more...

Yes, warm eyes of love is my handle. I was thinking of someone very special when I was on the landing having the picture taken. She said I have two endless pools of compassion for eyes. Hence, Warm Eyes of Love. Thanks for asking.

I've had my head chopped off many times, but it just keep growing back...better each time, I hope. LOL!
-
I cannot do you justice only that I so feel your sad heart though most of your words.. Which in turn hurts me for you.. I wish you great entries hon, Take Care, Catressa

Hi Cat,
I expect little to nothing when I post a contest. It hurts less that way (Laugh to keep from crying). I just have to know that deeply poetic hearts are as rare in nature as are intense double rainbows. Whe you see one, you never forget it. A few enteries by gentle souls...I'll be happy.
My pics have little to do with who I am, unless one has eyes to see beyond the surface.
Thank you for reading me.
Peace Through Love,

Timothy, I so apprecaite the trophy, although, the write was from the heart and writing it was reward enough. Few people are in tune enough to know the imapct of a double rainbow on a bent sky.
Congratulations to all. -
Tim,
Thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest...it was fun and congrats to the winners and everyone....
